Introduction
Welcome to Your October Issue. Inside Highlights
Welcome to October’s issue. Just when some of us thought it was safe to call ourselves “empty-nesters” as our last teenagers head off to university, a warning has been issued, claiming that the present financial uncertainty has prompted almost 60% of UK students to consider dropping out of their university degrees. With some students returning or going to university for the first time around now, pressure and financial support group SavetheStudent claims that increasing numbers are deeply concerned their finances won’t stand the pressure of such uncertain times! Oh well, there will be plenty of jobs around the house and garden to keep them busy...oh no, they’ve already been done during the lockdown. Brace yourselves, “Bank of Mum and Dad”! Anyway, as ever, there’s plenty here to keep all of your family informed and entertained, and don’t forget to change your clocks (“Spring forward, Fall back”), as we lose the hour on Sunday October 25th.

I’ve just been looking at my comment from last October and reminiscing about how different things were then. I wrote about the anticipation of starting the run-up to the end of the year and people getting ready for Hallowe’en, Bonfire Night and Christmas and New Year. What a difference a year makes. COVID-19 was an unknown illness to most of us then but what an impact it has had on our lives in 2020. Further restrictions on social gatherings have recently been brought in and the prospect of another lockdown in the coming months hardly fills one with great anticipation. However, some of the normal autumnal things remain constant such as the ever-changing colours of the Fenland landscape and skies as the seasons change which I for one enjoy. We’ve also recently seen some well needed sunshine which seems to be nature’s way of trying to put a smile back on our faces. Let’s hope we can all see out the rest of the year safely and look forward to better months ahead…

Recipe
PUMPKIN SOUP With autumn underway and Hallowe̛en just around the corner, it just had to be a pumpkin recipe didn̛t it?!
Method
1 Preheat the oven to 220ºC/Gas Mark 7. 2 Place the pumpkin, carrots and onions in a baking dish or roasting tin. Drizzle with the vegetable oil.
Ingredients
3 Bake in the preheated oven for forty minutes, until soft but not blackened.
Serves 6
750g pumpkin, peeled, seeded and cubed 2 carrots, coarsely chopped 2 onions, cut into wedges 2 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil 1 large potato, sliced 1 litre water 2 or 3 cubes chicken stock, crumbled 250ml double cream 1 /4 tbsp ground nutmeg, or to taste 1
1 tsp ground black pepper Salt to taste You can find this recipe and others at www.allrecipes.co.uk

4
In a large saucepan over a medium heat, bring the water and crumbled stock cubes to the boil. Cook the potato in simmering water until soft, for about twenty minutes.
5
Combine the potato and water with the roasted vegetables and puree in a liquidiser or food processor until smooth. Return to the pan over low heat and stir in the cream, nutmeg, pepper and salt. Heat gently, then serve with some crusty bread.
Helpful tip: Sugar pumpkins are similar to the large orange pumpkins you find during Hallowe’en but they are smaller, sweeter and have more flavour – optimal for this or any other pumpkin recipe. If unavailable, you can substitute in butternut or kabocha squash.

Sparkling Wines FROM GERMANY
G
erman wines have an excellent reputation, globally. Riesling grapes are outstanding for the productions of high-quality wines, which range from deliciously dry, through to very sweet. The cool climate, in and around the Rheingau area, (around the River Rhine), suits this grape variety perfectly. The WineBarn imports, and then makes available, fine wines with exceptional qualities. Iris Ellmann is MD and one of the UK’s first members of The Riesling Fellowship. The WineBarn and the wines offered have received numerous prestigious awards. A rare and antique wine sourcing service is also offered. Allendorf, based in the Rheingau region, has a family history dating back more than seven hundred years. Allendorf Sekt Brut (12.5% vol) I found to be very refreshing, enticing with a citrus fruit bouquet, for the nasal pleasures. The flavours of fruits on the mouthfeel continue through to the palate’s enjoyment, for this elegant production. Two fermentations, with the second being for a minimum of twelve months, contribute to an end result, very much favoured by many. www.thewinebarn.co.uk/collections/allendorf Bassermann-Jordan estate, based in the Pfalz region, was founded in 1718. Popular with many sparkling wine lovers is their Riesling Sekt Brut (12% vol). Following the pressing and fermentation processes, this Sekt’s fermentation continues in

the bottle for approximately twelve months. The fruity bouquet appeals and leads to the mouth’s indulgence, which is refreshing and elegant, through to the very last drop. www.thewinebarn. co.uk/collections/bassermann-jordan Solter, also based in the Rheingau region, produce a fantastic Rosé Brut (13% vol). It has refreshing red fruit flavours, following the nose’s delight on the bouquet. It is splendid for adding colour to any occasion, and particularly popular for al fresco dining. 100% Pinot Noir grapes are used to great advantage for the production of this wine. www. thewinebarn/collections/solter These superb sparkling wines, all with wonderful perlages, are great by themselves and make a fabulous accompaniment for many cuisines too. The WineBarn also offers an ordering system that is easy and available online. Existing clients include Michelin-starred restaurants, hotels and private clients, plus retailers, homes and offices. Matters MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Many town councils, including the majority in Fenland, elect on an annual basis a Mayor and a leader of the council as two distinct appointments. In Whittlesey the town council elects one of its councillors to carry out the combined duties of Mayor and leader and the term of office is two years as opposed to the usual one. The Mayor is a civic appointment and his or her principal function is to represent the town and villages at civic functions such as Remembrance Day Ceremonies, Annual Civic Service, presentations of awards and to attend town celebrations such as Whittlesey Festival, Christmas Extravaganza, Straw Bear Festival etc. Also, to represent the town and promote its interests at neighbouring events and celebrations. The Mayor is accompanied by a consort, in my case my wife Ann, who assumes the role of Mayoress and in conjunction with the Town Clerk, Mrs Sue Piergianni, attempts to keep me in order. The town council also appoints a Deputy Mayor who stands in when the Mayor is unavailable. For instance, it is not unusual for the Mayor and Mayoress to be invited to two separate events on the same day. As with the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor also engages a consort to assist when necessary. During this term of office the Deputy Mayor is Cllr Mrs Dee Laws with her consort being Cllr Mrs Kay Mayor. As we all know, this year has been unprecedented due to the COVID-19 epidemic and many formal and informal events have been cancelled. However, of late it has been my great pleasure and honour to preside over four notable events. Firstly, Ann and I were invited to attend a very moving, if somewhat restricted ceremony to comply with COVID guidance, at Whittlesey War Memorial to honour the 75th anniversary of VJ Day when victory in Japan effectively ended the Second World War. Secondly, on a wet Sunday evening I was delighted to be able to officially witness the provision of 10

portable floodlights at the Field of Dreams in Whittlesey, funding of which had been granted by The Whittlesey Charity. An exciting youth football match followed kicked off by myself and the chairman of The Whittlesey Charity, Clare Rayner. Thirdly, it was extremely gratifying to be invited to officially launch Fenland Youth Radio, a radio station sited at Peel House operated by young people for the enjoyment of young people throughout Fenland. Finally, it was an unusual experience to present the Citizen of the Year Award to Phil Knighton and the Young Citizen of the Year award to Ellie Nicholls in the Whittlesey Garden of Remembrance. Two very deserving winners. The leader of the town council has somewhat different responsibilities in that he oversees the general administration and decision making of the town council. In this role I work closely with the Town Clerk in the organising of various committees elected to ensure the smooth running of the council and sit, either as a member or observer, on all committees. I also preside at the monthly Whittlesey Town Council meeting and as a district councillor represent the town at Fenland District Council meetings where at present I hold the office of Chairman of the overview and scrutiny committee. Until next time… Cllr David K M Mason Mayor & Leader Whittlesey Town Council

ALLOTMENT AWARDS ANNOUNCED Whittlesey Town Council was delighted to announce the winners of the Best Kept Allotment Awards. The Mayor Cllr David Mason presented the recipients the certificates and main award.
Eastrea scientist Professor Brian J Ford will be celebrating the rebirth of one of his first published books this month. He said: “My book on Nonscience is fifty years old. It told how experts would take over the world, and how science would change into a money-making enterprise that blinded the public with jargon. The remarkable thing is that it all came true!” The new book, called Nonscience Returns, has been updated with lots of amusing new illustrations. Curtis Press – an East Anglian company based in Yarmouth – is releasing it this month. Professor Ford added: “The original book featured on TV and was translated and published overseas, It is amazing to see it reborn like this. That doesn't happen often.”
Congratulations went to Robin Hailstone, who was awarded third place, Ernie Cross, who was runnerup, and Peter Bellamy who was in first place. The Mayor congratulated the winners and thanked the town council projects committee and Mrs Gill Lawrence who was the independent judge.
HELP KEEP LOCAL HISTORY ALIVE Whittlesey Museum is looking for new volunteers to help keep local history alive. It says the junction of Scaldgate and Station Road now boasts a modern complex of thirty-three apartments named St.Judes Court. The site was, as present locals will recall, previously occupied by the ‘Bricklayers Arms’. Yet who, in decades to come, will remember the public house and its history within our town? A vital role of Whittlesey Museum is to bear witness to the changes. It is important to photograph and record the developments, linking the past to the present. Whittlesey Museum hopes to re-open to the public in the near future. COVID-19 precautions are in place to ensure the safety of its visitors. However, the museum needs more volunteers and is looking for local people who could generously devote some of their spare time to help run the museum. The volunteer work is varied and training would be given. To find out more, contact the museum via Facebook or email: whittleseymuseum@gmail.com
CONGRATULATIONS TO MIA! Five-year-old Mia is our Toy Bundle competition winner and is seen here enjoying her new favourite snack. Also pictured is Mia with her brother and sister, showing off the fantastic prizes! Her mum, Kelly Green, said: “Mia has sensory needs and development delay and up until lockdown she would only eat smooth foods like yogurts, custard and few other items but couldn't eat sandwiches. “We also have a thirteen-year-old daughter who decided to encourage Mia, so they made a very special sandwich together and Mia ate it! We were amazed as we had tried similar before but had no luck. Mia's favourite sandwich is ham sandwich with cheese and crisps. Great competition and prizes.”

CARE HOME WITH ARTISTIC FLAIR CELEBRATES NATIONAL “ARTS IN CARE HOMES DAY”
There is definitely never a dull moment at Orchard House Care Home, and their support of the September 24th “National Arts in Care Homes Day” will add even more sparkle to this already shining care home service. National Arts in Care Homes Day recognises the importance of ‘the creative arts’ in social care and the physical and psychological benefits that incorporating Music, Drama, Comedy, Poetry, Creative Writing, Dancing, Arts and Crafts into residents’ lifestyles can have. This year’s theme is ‘Creative Communities’, and Orchard House is definitely a creative community.
Providing extensive access to ‘the creative arts’ is really important to us here at Orchard House as we recognise their holistic benefits and impacts. The residents enjoy interacting with each other, they love a cup of tea and cake chatting about families and their lives before they lived at the home. The sense of community we have here amongst not only the residents, their loved ones and our team is such a crucial and important part of what makes Orchard House a home. Sarah (Deputy Manager) C

residents love a good sing-song and love the dancing side, most of all every one of these activities keeps their minds and brains stimulated.” Music is an incredibly important part of the programme and its importance is well documented across various social care studies.
I am very good at knit and knatter. I love arts and crafts. I colour every day as it is good for me. Pamela (Resident)
The team, led by experienced Registered Manager Maxine Bain, understand the importance of providing a creative community for the residents who live at the service in Wisbech, and they encourage and support the residents to engage with the home’s varied and extensive lifestyle services which are residentled, engaging and vibrant. A prime example was their movie-themed fashion show in honour of London Fashion Week earlier this year. Activities Co-ordinator Julie spoke of the service’s love of the arts,” Music and movement is a big hit as the 18

love nothing more than a staff versus CM resident karaoke session. Another popular event is the ‘Knit and Knatter’ MY which gives residents a chance to CY sit down and interact with other CMY residents whilst talking about their K lives. With ‘Creative Communities’ as this year’s theme, Orchard House decided to come together to celebrate the arts by putting on an autumn-themed Arts Exhibition which they have been working on throughout September. They have created numerous artworks including a large autumn tree displayed in Reception, autumn garlands to hang around the home and some lovely canvases. So far, the residents have thoroughly enjoyed the themed sessions. Evelyn commented, “I’ve enjoyed the arts and crafts; it’s good exercise for my hands.” Another eager participant who enjoyed the theme was keen gardener Tony who said, “I enjoy pottering about in the garden and I’ve also enjoyed doing the themed arts and crafts as I like colouring and painting. “ OCT OBE R 2 0 2 0

In Memory Of
REMEMBERING...
John Lee
W
hittlesey resident, John Lee, passed away on July 19th, 2020, aged eighty-seven years. John was born in Ely on February 23rd, 1933 to John and Dorothy Lee. The only son of four children, he had two older sisters and one younger sister. Whilst visiting his aunt in Whittlesey, before he left for his National Service, he met a young woman, Sylvia, who he later married and had three children with.
In his later years he was diagnosed with a few health conditions, the latest of which was an aggressive skin cancer. In April of this year John and Sylvia celebrated a wonderful sixty-five years of marriage. John loved his family and over the years he was fortunate to see it grow, with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After they married John and Sylvia lived in Ely. John worked as a stoker on the railway and Sylvia was busy being a housewife and mum to Denise and Kevin. After six years, John was made redundant and took a new job as an engine fitter at Perkins in Peterborough. The family then moved to Whittlesey, where they welcomed their third child, Tracey. John enjoyed playing darts, fishing, and gardening. He always worked hard to be able to give his family a holiday every year. He liked nothing more than to go away with his family and relations to Skegness and Devon. Discovering Magazines are community magazines, issued monthly and distributed to houses and businesses in the local area. They are read and enjoyed by many people.
However, one thing which we feel might help you come to terms with your loss is to share with others some information and some of the many memories you may have.
At a sad time like this, we understand that it is not easy to deal with everything following the loss of a loved one.
So, if you would like us to include a piece about your loved one, maybe including some photographs, please get
in touch with us and we would be delighted to share it with our many readers, (at no cost to yourself!) by publishing it in our next issue. Please call Paula on 01778 421427 or 07903 776211 or email marketing.discoveringmagazines @gmail.com

Your Garden
October Gardening Tips
L
et’s hope October brings us some fine weather to start clearing the garden or allotment and preparing it for the colder months ahead. In fact, most of the work this month involves clearing the plot, plenty of digging, and composting debris. Rough dig over heavy ground and leave it to be broken down by the frosts. Keep off the soil if it is wet and do not be tempted to dig if it is frozen. Remember... clocks back on October 25th! Harvest or protect any remaining crops that are susceptible to frosts and clear away any remaining debris and place on the compost heap: the larger the quantity, the better as this helps the heap to warm up and accelerates the rotting process. It is advisable to shred or pulverize thick, woody stems such as sweetcorn, beans, and brassicas so that they decompose more quickly. Do not put any diseased foliage on the compost heap; burn or discard it. Lift main crop potatoes before the end of the month and then store in a cool, dark place: I went to the chip shop and asked them for their used paper potato sacks. October is perfect for dividing large oversized crowns of rhubarb. If established plants are left indefinitely, they do eventually produce less each year. Cut up and divide the crowns into good sized pieces, making sure each has signs of dormant buds and, as it is not a fussy plant, it can be planted almost anywhere, so long as the ground does not get waterlogged. It is also the perfect time for moving or planting new fruit bushes and trees.

Bare-rooted trees will benefit from the warmth still left in the soil. Crops that can be sown this month are: • Early broad beans. •
Japanese over-wintering onion sets. Although large onion sets look stronger, small or medium ones are less likely to bolt in the spring.
• Last chance to transplant spring cabbages – be sure to net them to prevent pigeons eating the young leaves. • Plant garlic. • Broad beans – early varieties should overwinter. Other jobs for this month include: • Continue to earth up celery and leeks. • Protect cauliflowers by bending a leaf over the curd. • Finish pruning blackberries and raspberries. • Keep removing yellow leaves from brassicas – leaving them on the ground risks spreading grey mould. • If you have not already done so, earth up or stake (or both) Brussels sprouts and sprouting broccoli plants. • Pick the unripe tomatoes and put a few in a bag with a ripe banana – this gives off ethylene gas which speeds ripening. • Cure pumpkins and squashes – cut and leave them to dry out in the sun; it hardens the skins and they will keep for longer. • Cut back asparagus and artichoke foliage and compost. • Remove runner bean canes; if left in the ground they will easily rot. Happy gardening!

Power Of Attorney Changes by Eamonn Dorling
trusted solicitor to provide their service because mistakes can be detrimental. Granting Power of Attorney can cover finance and welfare (two separate documents). They need to be registered and it is important that both the grantor and grantee understand the implications.
In recent months it has become much clearer just how important the Office of the Public Guardian online services are. With the world going online to communicate and collaborate they have been working behind the scenes to make the lives of donors and attorneys easier. They want to offer more support to people helping others make decisions. Making better use of digital products, services and smarter ways of working will help free up more resources. Allowing them to support our users and help achieve better outcomes. They have modernised the lasting power of attorney processes. Last year they announced their ‘Track my LPA’ service which allows people making an LPA online to track the progress of their application. Now, they have launched ‘Use a lasting power of attorney’ service. The new service lets donors and attorneys give organisations access to view an online summary of an LPA. However, if you are not confident to use this service or you need advice – contact a
As a later life specialist, I regularly deal with appointed attorneys, solicitors, care providers and family. Later life financial advice does not need to be restricted to when care is needed, or decisions are becoming difficult to make. There is the other side where health and wellbeing are not issues, but the management of finances and protection of the estate are important. This is where trusting an independent financial adviser with a good network to help provide a well-balanced plan is important. Where possible involve family members or trusted friends but if you prefer not to that is also fine. Look for the SOLLA logo – these advisers have been independently assessed and will provide excellent advice. Visit www.societyoflaterlifeadvisers.co.uk and look up someone to meet with. Stop The Spam And Put An End To Unwanted Text Messages by Eileen Le Voi at Safe Local Trades Whether it’s ‘your bank’ asking for verification of personal details or a message to say you have won a competition prize – unwanted texts can be annoying and sometimes worrying. However, there is now a new service which allows you to report spam texts directly to your mobile phone provider. All operators now use 7726 as the short code to report spam texts, and it is free to use. All of the UK’s mobile operators worked together to deploy a tool which collates all the information from the 7726 short code in real time. This means they can take early action to block numbers that are generating spam on their networks. They can also use this information to inform the regulators. You can report spam texts directly to your mobile phone provider free of charge by forwarding the text message to 7726. While scammers are getting more cunning at making a scam message look like the real thing, there are some signs you can watch out for. Here are some great tips from Which? Unexpected contact: Think about how that organisation normally contacts you and if it isn't via a message, contact them directly to check if it's legitimate. A genuine organisation will never contact you out of the blue and ask you to verify your details, request personal or banking details or tell you to transfer money via a message.

Check for spelling or grammar errors: Genuine organisations will rarely, if ever, make glaring spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, and if so, it will usually be an isolated incident. If the message doesn't look professional, it's probably a scam – even if it drops into a message chain from your bank. Don't follow any links: If you follow a link in the message, it could send you to an imposter website set up to steal your money or personal data. In some cases, it could even infect your smartphone with malware. Always look up an organisation's contact details independently and get in touch to verify the message. Don't share personal information: If you think you've been targeted by a scam message, don't share any personal information, your banking details or PIN. Legitimate organisations, such as banks or HMRC, will never ask for your personal or banking details through a message or text. OCT OBE R 2 0 2 0

D
avina Brightley looks back on her thirty-fiveyear career as a teacher in Whittlesey. After training at the City of Leicester University she started at the Junior Mixed School in September 1956 under Mr Reg McCarthy who flew Spitfires during World War II.
She says: “The main junior school was in the old building in Broad Street. The infant department was next door and the head was Miss Bailey. I started in the old girls school in West End, which had three classrooms. Other junior classes were scattered about the town housed in chapel halls. “In West End there were three teachers, Mr Norman, Mrs Eason (deputy head). And myself. The classrooms were heated by old fashioned combustion stoves fed by coke. The stone was protected by a fireguard, not the best of heating. The children sat in twos at old fashioned desks with lids. “Toilets were outside, across a concrete yard. The yard was used as a playground and for all PE in the school. We had one cloakroom which contained pegs, a washbasin, and a store cupboard. Games were played on Sir Harry Smith School field, football, hockey, and netball etc. “The children made their own way to the field and helped to carry the sports gear. There was nowhere to store it at the field, and it had to be brought back to school. If it rained there was no shelter and we lived on hope.” Davina remembers the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret being married in 1960 at the time of the opening of Alderman Jacobs School, named after a local farmer who owned a dairy in the town and served on the education committee. His son Ron Jacobs was a rugby player, playing for England, and later farming at Thorney.

The Royal wedding was celebrated with a public holiday for: “All except the teachers and some strong boys, as much help was needed to help with the removal to the new Alderman Jacobs School. “It was bliss to be working in such luxurious classrooms. Ladies were not allowed to wear fashionable stilettos because of the new floors. When Mr Fisher became headteacher the swimming pool was built. All parents helped in one way or another and this helped to keep the costs down.” Davina completed thirty-one years’ teaching, including five years part-time and supply, in 1992. She says she enjoys meeting former pupils: “I am a Whittlesey person and grew up here and I found it very useful to know the parents as well as the children. It gives me a great deal of pleasure when ex-pupils come up to me and say hello. I feel very proud to have had a hand in their education.” The photo shows Davina’s late husband with Mr Fisher helping out with the building of the swimming pool

Church Matters
WHITTLESEY CHRISTIAN CHURCH Take Courage And See Things Change Several years ago, my flight from the International Airport in Columbus, Ohio, to Seattle, Washington was going to be delayed by two hours. After contacting the church in Seattle, they would have someone waiting to take me direct to the church where I was due to preach that evening. I knew this would not give me any time to relax and freshen up, so I settled into a comfortable chair and began focussing on the topic for the evening which was the title of the editorial. I’d recently read the incredible, but true story of Telemachus, a fourth-century Christian. Believing God wanted him to go to Rome, he set out on a journey which would take him several weeks to walk. Arriving in the city he followed the crowd surging down the streets into the Colosseum. He heard the gladiators say to the emperor: “We who are about to die salute you.” Realising they were going to fight to the death to entertain the crowd, this poor, humble man cried out: “In the name of Christ, stop!” Pushing through the crowd and climbing over the wall he dropped into the arena. Seeing this tiny figure rushing to the gladiators saying: “In the
O CTOB E R 2020
name of Christ, stop!”, people thought it was part of the show and began laughing. On realising it wasn’t, their laughter turned to anger. Still pleading with them to stop, one of the gladiators plunged a sword into his body. As he lay dying, his last words were: “In the name of Christ, stop!” As the gladiators stood looking at the tiny figure, a strange hush fell over the Colosseum. In the upper rows, a man stood and silently made his way to the exit, others followed him. In deadly silence everyone left the Colosseum. The year was 391 A.D. and the last battle to the death took place in 404 A.D. The courage of one tiny figure brought change to this barbaric sport. You Can Change Things. Be courageous, and God will strengthen the heart of everyone who hopes in the Lord. Save Your Theatre! Stamford Shakespeare Company (SSC), with its open-air theatre at Tolethorpe Hall, has launched a campaign to ensure its survival.
S
tamford Shakespeare Company (SSC), with its open-air theatre at Tolethorpe Hall, has launched a fundraising campaign to ensure its survival. Its aim is to raise crucial funds to keep the theatre company afloat and to ensure the summer season of plays can continue next year.
The impact of Covid-19 on SSC has been enormous. The Theatre and Hall were closed in March this year and the Company has lost a forecasted £240,000 worth of ticket sales. As a charity who receive no funding from any arts organisations or formal sponsorship, SSC relies on income from tickets sales to fund the productions, maintain the beautiful grounds and upkeep the Grade II* listed Elizabethan Hall. The future of SSC is now at great risk.
We have been putting on Shakespeare plays for over fifty years and we are determined that Covid-19 will not put an end to this, but without the help from the community, we will not survive. We are enormously grateful to our patrons and overwhelmed by their continued generosity and kindness. We now need you more than ever.” For more information, please visit their fundraising website: www.saveyourtheatre.co.uk.
Although the government lifted some of the restrictions on theatres, allowing outdoor venues to re-open with social distancing in place, SSC have not been able to rehearse, they have not finished the construction of their sets nor the costumes for the actors; therefore, 2020’s productions could not proceed. Caroline Stephenson, Chair of SSC Board of Directors, said: “We are all so lucky to have this theatre on our doorstep. To date, we have welcomed over a million audience members, to share experiences with friends and family through theatre, giving volunteers a place to be valued, and inspiring young people to dream big. Losing this wonderful, unique and special place would leave a void in our community.
