Quick Facts

Saskatoon was established in 1883 on Treaty Six territory, which is stewarded by the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, and Nakota Sioux. It is also home to many Mètis settlements.

With the youngest median age of all Canadian cities –– at just 35 years old, Saskatoon is a vibrant, fresh, and exciting place to discover.

The name for the city of Saskatoon comes from the Cree word misâskwatôminiskâhk which means

“at the place of many Saskatoon berries.”
