DYLAN KNOPPERS

”I feel that I’m an important part of the Faculty of Computer Science— from my first interactions with other students and

faculty I felt welcome here. The professors are open, approachable,

and friendly, with varying teaching styles that appeal to a wider spread of students than I’ve seen before. The social atmosphere of the faculty is open and welcoming, supported by the mostly studentrun Computer Science Association’s worthwhile events. I’ve enjoyed my time at UNB more than either of the universities I went to before, with my increased social involvement contributing to my increased in-class performance as well. UNB Computer Science has been the best educational decision I’ve made yet.”

LIZ PARK

“The Computer Science co-op program at UNB offers an ideal balance between hands-on experience and theoretical foundations of computer science. Through

my placements, I learned how to collaborate

effectively with co-workers, and the networks I

have built have proven invaluable to my postgrad

career development. I gained practical knowledge in software development and quality assurance at

several world-leading companies such as IBM, and as a research assistant at UNB, not to mention the co-op students also get paid handsomely while on their work term. The university’s co-op program gave me a very positive experience overall.” 25

FREDERICTON FREDERICTON

JACOB WOLFE “Choosing to move to Fredericton in order to obtain my Bachelor of Education degree at UNB wasn’t the easiest decision to make, but it was definitely the RIGHT decision to make. The Professors don’t only teach you how to be a great teacher; they show you how to be one. My time in the classroom never felt like a waste of time. Everything was interesting, engaging, and extremely practical for when I began teaching on my own. The combination

of in-class learning, as well as the hands on experience

during my practicum has made me feel very confident in my abilities as a future math/English teacher.

Beyond the professional benefits, this program also does an incredible job of fostering a sense of community within the faculty. In a few short months I have made friends, built relationships, and created memories that will carry on well after this 11-month program is over.”

TAYLOR LOSIER “From the start, I realized that the B.Ed. program was going to be different from any classroom experience that I have had before. I became

a part of a tight-knit community, where

students and faculty alike strive to think and

teach in new and interactive ways. On top of that, the opportunity to take part in two of the

different programs offered—both the CTFSL and International Practicum in Beijing, China —has allowed me to really tailor my degree in order to become the best kind of teacher I want to be.” 29

“UNB has presented me with many opportunities. While working on my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, I have been able to work towards obtaining a diploma in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship (DTME), a major in environmental studies, and getting advanced credit towards a graduate degree. In the

time I have left at UNB, I look forward to a term studying abroad
