Introduction
HISTORY OF EYE EXTENSHION Long luxurious eyelashes have become the hottest new beauty trend in the world. With eyelash extensions, women can enjoy lengthy lashes for up to 4–6 weeks with no daily need for curlers, mascaras, or mediocre false lashes from a drugstore. Compared to their current popularity among celebrities and the general public alike, lash extensions originated from more modest beginnings.
The beauty industry experimented with different lash styles and application techniques. False lashes grew especially popular in the 60’s, when women desired overdone, doe-eyed lashes like Twiggy. While today’s clients want their lashes to look as natural as possible, the most important thing in the 60’s was boldness. No matter if they were made of human hair or artificial materials, applied individually or on a strip, women requesting eyelash extensions wanted other women to be able to tell that they were wearing falsies.
Did You Know? Lash extensions were created by movie director D.W. Grifthin 1916. He wanted his leading ladies to have lashes that grazed the cheeks when eyes were closed

Introduction
The Origins of the Lash Extension Craze It all began in 1916 during the production of the D.W. Grifthfilm Intolerance. Grifth’s vision for the main character of the film, played by Seena Owen’s was to have lashes that “brushed her cheeks,” to make her shine large than life.” With a few strands of human hair and fen gauze, a local wig maker designed the first false lashes for Owen–and the obsession with lengthy, feathery lashes began. In the years following Seena Owen’s false lash debut, eyelash extensions gained popularity and continued to develop. In the 40’s and 50’s, artificial lashes struck the scene.
Eyelash Extensions as We Now Know Them Fast-forward to 2004, when America was first introduced to the modern-day eyelash extension. Pasha Paing brought eyelash extensions to South Korea over 25 years ago. He is the chairman of KELA (Korean Eye Lash Association) and is the founder of the “layered technique” using different curls, lengths and diameters in one set of lashes to achieve the most natural look. Celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, and Jennifer Lopez were some of the first celebrities to openly declare their use and love of eyelash extensions, and increasing popularity among the general public quickly followed.

Growth Cycle
Eyelash Groth Pattern Anagen / Growth / Baby The anagen phase is also called the growth phase. This is the phase when lashes are actively growing, and it lasts between 30 and 45 days. Only about 40 percent of the upper lashes and 15 percent of the lower lashes are in the anagen phase at any one time. Each lash will grow to a specific length and then stop.
Catagen / Transition / Teen The catagen phase is also known as the transition phase. During this phase, the lash stops growing and the hair follicle shrinks. This phase lasts between two and three weeks.
Telogens / Resting / Adult The telogen phase is also referred to as the resting phase. This phase before the eyelash falls out and a new one begins to grow. Because each individual lash is in its own phase of the growing cycle, its normal for a few lashes to fall out most days.

State Bord Regulation Disinfectant Always use a brand of Disinfectant approved by state board. We recommend using Barbicide. When using Barbicide, allow your tools to be immersed for 10 minutes. Afterwards, rinse with water and place them in a closed cointained. Your Barbicide should be changed out every 24 hours, otherwise it will lose its efficacy. It is also recommended to use a Glass Bead Sterilizer as an extra precaution. Most bead sterilizers reach temperatures of 300-450 degrees F. When it reaches it highest temperature, you will only need to immerse your tools for approximately 1 min, killing bacteria, fungi, viruses, and viral spores.
Label your station Labeling not only keeps your working area clean and organized, but it also is an important state board regulation. You are required to store all new supplies and singleuse, disposable tools in a clean, covered place labeled “New”. All liquids, creams, and cosmetics should be distinctly labeled on all their bottles and containers of their contents. You must avoid any double dipping when using liquids, creams, and cosmetics.
Disposable tools After use on a single client, immediately dispose of tools and supplies that cannot be disinfected in a waste receptacle. Examples of this are: Mascara wants, micro wand, flocked lip applicator, gel pads, and tape.

Proof of License Always keep your personal and/or establishment license current and visible at your primary work station. Also, you must have a state ID on hand at all times.
Towel or paper work Place a clean towel under a clients head, whether it be on a pillow or directly on the bed. After a towel, sheet, robe, linen or smock has been used once, place it in a closed container to be laundered, labeled “soiled”.
Clean Hands Washing your hands is an incredibly necessary step before every client. Washing your hands removes germs and harmful bacteria from our hands. This also prevents the spread of diseases and keeps your environment safe, fresh, and clean. It is also recommended to have Hand Sanitizer at your work station at all times.
Tip : Always keep your personal and/or establishment license current and visible at your primary work station. Also, you must have a state ID on hand at all times.

Type Of Lashes CLUSTER {bunch of
lashes}
Lash extensions should be applied on a one-to-one basis, one extension applied to one natural lash. Clusters are applied on top of the natural lash line instead of individually.Because our natural lashes grow at different stages, the tension and weight of the cluster can cause premature lash loss. This can lead to a type of hair loss called Traction Alopecia if done repeatedly. Summary of reasons why clusters are damaging: • Not applied one to one therefore natural shedding cannot occur • Extremely heavy on our natural lashes • Excess amount of adhesive used Volume Lash Extensions
Volume Lash Extensions 2-6: 1lash When performing volume techniques lighter lash densities are used allowing technicians to apply more than 1extension to every one natural lash. Individuals seeking volume lashes desire a fuller more dramatic look. Unlike signature lash volume extension transform a client’s lashes from 74 to 150 natural lashes to 300+ lashes
12
Signature Lash Extensions1:1 Signature lash extensions is the application of one extension to every one of your natural lashes. Single lash extensions are manufactured out of various materials such as synthetic, silk, faux mink and mink extensions. Technicians isolate and adhere one extension to every one of your natural lashes to ensure proper application and shedding patterns. Fullness of a signature set I based on what the clients naturally has 75 of natural lashes result in 75 extensions

The Adhesive
THE ADHESIVE Eyelash Extension Adhesives are more complicated than you may anticipate, so herewe go!
What is Eyelash Adhesive made out of ? 1. The main ingredient in all professional eyelash extensions adhesives is Ethyl Cyanoacrylate...Yes it was hard for us to pronounce too! This ingredient is responsible for the strength of the adhesive and what makes it “grab” onto the natural lash and dry as quickly as 0.50 seconds. If your client develops an allergy to Cyanoacrylate, they will not be a good candidate to receivelashes because it is an active ingredient in all lash brands. 2. The second main ingredient is Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA).
To put it simply, this ingredient’s job is to keep the retention of the bond strong and long lasting.
3. The third main ingredient is Hydroquinone and its very important job is to keep the
glue from curing/ drying before you’ve had a chance to use it. 4. The last main ingredient is Carbon Black, which is what causes the adhesives color
to appear black. Some clients may develop allergies with Carbon Black and that’s why clear adhesives are the perfect alternatives because this ingredient is not present!
14
The Adhesive
How do you use the Adhesive ? Before you start your day, we recommend shaking the bottle for at least 1 min in order to mix all of the ingredients that have seperated while sitting unused. We also recommend shaking your bottle of adhesive at least 30 seconds between clients.Shake, Shake, Shake! When dipping your lash extension into the adhseive, go slow. If you dip the lash too quickly into the adhesive, your lash will pick up an excess amount and create what we call “beads” as shown in Example 1. Having too much adhesive on your lash will not only add too much weight on your natural lash, but will also create a bleed and attract more natural lashes around the isolated lash to clump together. In order to avoid this, dip your lash extension slowly. The lash will pick up the perfect amount of adhesive like shown in Example

Why does the adhesive have to be in the perfect temperature ? Both humidity and temperature factor into the dry time and bond performance of the adhesive. High temperature/humidity will make your adhesive work too fast. Low temperature/ humidity will slow down dry time. Depending on the brand of the glue, a safe humidity percentage is between 40-70%. We recommend purchasing a humidity tracker to control the temperature in the room to avoid poor application and retention.
1.Shelf life 3 months once opened. 2.Must be stored in a dark cool area. 3.Keep the nozzle clean after each use. 4.Extra Flexible. 5.A patch test is not necessary, although is recommended 48 hours prior to treatment if the client has had a previous reaction to any other eye treatment or product. 6.Change glue drop every 15-30 min 7.Change glue after each klients.

8 Types of Professional Eyelash Tweezers 1. Straight Lash Tweezer To begin, we’re starting with a basic tweezer that you may befamiliar with: the straight lash tweezer! These tweezers areexactlywhat they sound. Straight lash tweezersare long and narrow, ending with a tapered point. For our ferocious eyebrow pluckers, these closely resemble a traditional tweezer. These straight lash tweezers are made for picking up eyelash extensions with ease!Don’t worry about dropping those precious lashes, either—the tips of this tweezer is aligned perfectly to ensure the firmest grip possible.
2. Pointed StraightLash Tweezer Thepointed straight lash tweezeris your go-to lash tool when it comes to lash isolation. These tweezers isolate the client’s natural lashes right to prevent clumpy, unattractive lashes. Nobody wants that. This tweezer looks similar to the straight lashtweezer. However, the pointed straight lash tweezer has a more sudden curve that tapers to a point, while the straight lash tweezer gradually comes to its pointed tip.
3. Isolation Lash Tweezers Theisolation lash tweezerhelps you keep natural lashes isolated as you lash on the perfect look. As you hold this tweezer in your non-dominant hand, you can use another tweezer in your other hand to carefully attach lash extensions for your clients. An isolation tweezer has a slight curve located on its underside. This curve allows for perfect isolation that is closer to the client’s eyelid. Basically, you don’t have to worry about losing an isolated lash with these tweezers.
4. Pointed Curve Lash Tweezers If you’re looking for a versatile tweezer, then this is the one for you, ladies! When it comes to theclassic vs. volumeeyelash extensions debate, you don’t have to pick a side. The pointed curve lash tweezer’s short base allows for a firm grip. In turn, this makes it easy to pick up multiple lashes for a full-on volume fan. Or, if you need tweezers for classic lashing, these tweezers are a handy tool!

5. Pointed Edge Lash Tweezers Professional eyelash tweezers in action! The pointed edge lashtweezer is just as handy as its curved relative! This means you can use apointed edge lash tweezerfor the right volume look or lay down some classic lash style with ease. A pointed edge lash tweezer curves in slightly before curving back with its angled tips.
6. Curved Lash Tweezers When creating an eye-catching volume eyelash look, thesecurved lash tweezersare your go-to tool. These tweezers have a more gradual curve to its tip, resembling the letter J, which is why they’re also known as J tweezers. The curved lash tweezer gives you some extra room in that “sweet spot”to make creating a volume fan easier! In addition, its precision tip allows the right amount of resistance for the best set of volume lashes.
7. Volume Lash Tweezers When it comes to volume eyelash extensions, it feelsgoodto have control. Controlover those lashes, of course! Thevolume lash tweezershave a sharp curve at its tip, which resembles the letter L. So, these tweezers are also known as L tweezers! With a pair of volume lash tweezers, you can easily control the volume fans you create. This makes styling unique and fabulous lash looks a breeze!
8.Round Volume Lash Tweezers Round volume lash tweezersare similar to volume lash tweezers but have a more rounded tip compared to volume tweezers. Thanks to its short base and tight grip, you can make volume fans without losing any extensions!

How to hold Tweezers? MY RECOMMENDATION Always hold your lash tweezer with 3 fingers. The index and middle finger should be on one side, as shown in the picture. The thumb should be on the other side of the tweezer. For additional support, you can also useyour 4th finger closer to the tip of the tweezer. When creating a fan, your hand, thumb, and index finger are relaxed. The only finger doing the work is the middle finger. The other fingers of the hand are just there for support. The middle finger will apply pressure on the tweezer and manipulate it.

LASH DICTIONARY
Lash Dictionary Lash Line The edge of the upper or lower lid, from which the eyelashes grow from. We will be mainly referring to the upper lid throughout your training.
Water Line The area where your eyelids meet to close your eyes. In other words, it’s the area between the base of your lashes and your actual eyeball.
Isolation Separating a single natural lash from the rest of the lashes on the lash line using a tweezer using your non-dominant hand.
Base This refers to the very bottom of the lash extension and sometimes the bottom of the natural lashes where it meets the lash line.
Bond The method of connecting the eyelash extension with your natural lash using a eyelash extension adhesive.
Burping The method of releasing any air from the neck of the adhesive bottle by sitting the bottle down upright and give it a gentle squeeze or tap on the surface to “burp” the bottle.
Retention Can be referred as “bad” or “good” retention. The length of time the lash extensions remains bonded with the natural lash between fills.
Iris A colored, ring-shaped membrane behind the cornea of the eye, with an adjustable circular opening (pupil) in the center. (The colored part of your eye)

Single classic lash VS Single flat lash
Classic Natural Lash A Classic Eyelash Extension is round at the base and requires more balancing when applying on top of the natural lash. The benefit is the various lengths and diameters it comes in.
Flat Lash A Flat Eyelash Extension is flat at the base allowing the lash to fit like a puzzle on top of the natural lash. It will give the illusion of a thicker lash without compromising weight. The downside is they don’t come in thinner diameters and you cannot create fans with them

Eyelash extension mapping styles
L
uckily, there’s no need to re-write the rulebook-there are lots of lash
maps already out there to achieve different designs, though you may need to adapt them to suit your client.
Cat Eye Lash Map Probably the most popular style out there, Cat Eye lashes start with the shortest lashes at the inner corners, gradually getting longer at the outer corners creating a sexy winged look that extends out. A less dramatic version of this is sometimes called a
Kitten Eye. Squirrel Eye Lash Map Also known as a Flick. Whereas CatEye lashes are longest at the outer corners, A Squirrel Eye is longest around two-thirds of the way along the lash line, or at the arch of the brow if brows are perfectly shaped, with lashes tapering slightly shorter again at the outer corner.
Doll Eye Lash Map Also known as a ‘Dolly Eye’, this style of lashing is longest above the centre of the eye,and shorter at each corner, giving a rounded, big-eyed look. It can be quite dramatic when used with longer lengths, or very natural looking withshorter lengths when it is known as simply rounded or natural lashes.
26
EYELASH EXTENSION
Kim K Lash Map This style has taken off big time in recent years! It features a base layer of lashes that is interspersed with ‘spikes’ of longer length lashes at regular intervals for asuper feminine, glamorous look. Also known as ‘wispy’ lashes. Read ourKim K lash style tips.
27
Eye Pads
Eye Pads Gel pads are used to hold down lower lashes preventing the upper and lower lashes from sticking together Gel pads also protect the skin from any product such as adhesive Place silicone gel pad or lint free gel pad on tips of the lower lashes below the waterline. The lower lashes may be covered with surgical tape if necessary. Use small sections of tape to cover small areas at a time until all lower lashes are covered. If the gel pad appears to pucker, remove and try again, the gel pads and or tape must lay fat. The pad is adjustable and may need to be applied using a different start point. With the clients’ eyes now closed, take this opportunity to access the client’s lashes and evaluate what curl, density, material, length and shape is best suited for their natural lashes and personal preference. You’re aware of what look your client is going forbased on your earlier consultation, now you must see how you can produce that look while ensuring the client’s lashes remain healthy Rite way to put eye pads.

29
step by step
Step by step
1.Carry out a thorough consultation prior to the treatment. Start by having the client sit up on the bed. This allows you to have a good lookat the lashes. Top Tip-Build a strong rapport with the client by making them comfortable throughout the process. Keep them relaxed and stay professional at all times.
2.If your client wears contact lenses these must be removed. 3. Cleanse the naturallashes with an oil free cleanser. If they are wearing waterproof mascara and require an oily cleanser to remove it then cleanse again a second time with oil free to remove oily residue.
4. Apply gel patches to lowers lashes ensuring all lashes are covered.
5.Comb through Lashes with a disposable mascara spoolie. 6. Apply a small amount of lash primer to the transparent back you have removed from the gel patches.
7. Use a micro brush to apply the primer and place sponge applicator under the natural lashes to soak up any primer residue. Always ensure the product doesn’t enter the client’s eye.
8.Using the disposable mascara spoolie comb through the lashes and use the air blower to dry the primer.
9. Measure up the natural lashes using a 9mm length 0.15mm thickness lash. This will help ensure your lash extensionlength and thickness meets the client’s expectations without causing damage to the natural lashes
10. Decide on length and thickness according to desired effect discussed at consultation. Then take a pinch of each length and place on the lash mat or silicone pad. 11. Place a strip of micropore tape over the glass adhesive stone before applying a smallbead of adhesive. 12. The adhesive is temperature sensitive and will need to be topped up. You can expect to use 2-4 beads during a full application. 13. Using the straight tweezers in your dominant hand pick up a lash extension in the correct directionfor application. Hold it about 1/3 from the tip with your fine point straight tweezers and allocate a single natural lash.
30
step by step
14. Stab the blunt end of the lash into the adhesive ensuring to coat the bottom 1/3 of the extension. Place onto your allocated lash with 3 clean sweeps from root to tip and hold for a second. Float your fine point tweezers in place ensuring no neighboring natural lashes stick to the new extension.
15.Pick up your next lash extension and allocate your next natural lash-this is enough time for the new extension to dry.
16.Repeat this process evenly between both eyes not working to close to each new lash. You will create more symmetry to the finished lashes using the 10:10 ratio, working evenly between both eyes.
17. Regularly comb through the lashes with mascara spoolie ensuring no lashes are stuck together. Use the air blower to dry off lashes when working close to last application.
18.Once you have achieved the client’s desired effect use the air blower to ensure all extensions are dry before giving the lashes a good comb through with mascara stoolie.
19.Apply Sealant to extensions and comb through. 20.Gently lift the client’s lid to ensure no lashes are stuck to the pad. 21.Using the fine point tweezers, gently lift any lashes that are stuck-try to ensureyou don’t damage the lashes or hurt the client.
22.Gently remove the gel pad from the outer corner to the inner eye making sure you stop if any lashes are caught. Make sure, the client keeps their eyes closed during this part.
23.Give the lashes another gentle comb through and sit the client upright again encouraging her to keep her eyes closed. Give the lashes another dry with the air blower-this soothes the eye and prevents the client’s eyes from watering when opening.
24.Get the client to slowly open their eyes advising them they may feel sticky-this will stop them panicking if any tiny lashes have stuck.
25.Get the client to look up and back so you can check the water line for any extensions placed too close. This will eventually cause irritation and infection if the client repetitively touches their eyes.
26.Remove offending lashes with micro brush or fine point straight tweezers they will come away easily.
27.At this point advise the client of their aftercare andthe importance of keeping their lashes clean
28.Re-book the client for 2-3 weeks for their maintenance appointment.

How to remove lash HOW TO REMOVE LASH It is 3 different ways to remove lash extenshion : Removing whith remover cream, this method is for removing the all lashes. You can not use this method to remove few lashes. Banana Peel Poop-Off Methode
The Banana Peel
Step 1 Using your non-dominent hand, grab the natural lash towards the tip with your tweezer and keep steady throughout the whole removal process. Make sure you are using tweezers that close tightly shut, especially for the natural lash.
Step 2: Using your dominant hand, grab the lash extension with your tweezer and pull away from natural lash and peel off the extension in downward motion towards yourself. Hence, this should mimic pealing a banana.
Tip Bend the lash extension with your tweezers to help expose the natural lash.

The Pop-Off Method Step 1 Using your non-dominent hand, grab the natural lash with your tweezer and keep steady throughout the whole removal.
Step 2 Using your dominant hand, grab the lash extension with your tweezer (close to the base of the lash extension and pull in downward motion until you expose the tail of the lash extension.
Tip If lash has not poped off at Step 2, follow Steps 3.
Step 3 Using your dominant hand, grab the tail of the lash extension with your tweezer and pull away from the natural lash until it “pops” off.
Tip Only use this method if you have about 2-3mm of growth so you have room to grab the base of the natural lash steady.

Lash Fills
Lash fills Your clients should return for a fill every two to three weeks. If you can keep them onthis schedule, they should never need a full set again. However, if clients wait longer than two to four weeks for their fills, it is more likely that notthat they will need a full set due to the number of lash extensions they’ve lost. A service or application is typically considered a full set when the client has less than 30% of their extensions remaining.
