RCC Chase the Ace Pays Off
Almost $225,000 Paid Out!
For the past few years, volunteers have taken time out on Saturdays to host the RCC Chase the Ace and the results have been amazing. For such a small community, the local Chase the Ace has paid out to winners almost $225,000 in Grand Prize Jackpots and Consolation Prizes. The largest one to date was the $160,000 won just last summer. This prize amount was, at the time, the largest Chase the Ace win in eastern Manitoba. Since then, a couple of communities have exceeded this jackpot but with a RCC Jackpot of almost $32,000 with over 40
cards left, time will only tell if the Richer Jackpot will take the number one spot again. All it takes is one ticket and one lucky draw. The RCC is spending a bit of their share of the money on projects listed on their Ten Year plan developed in 2012 but is also
looking for fresh ideas and project ideas from the community. With that said, the RCC AGM will be held on March 11 and there are a few positions to be voted on. Anyone in the catchment area of Richer can be nominated for these positions and be elected. The RCC is encouraging those with a bit of time to spare to join the RCC Board of Directors. Your input is valued and can help steer recreation, events and the park for following years.

Crib News Richer Crib Club met on Tuesday, January 7th for our first tournament of the year and we had another full house! Dan Ross won the evening, with Glen West coming in second and Roger Chenier bringing in third. Regina Konge took the booby prize and drew Cornie Klassen’s ticket for the 50/50. On January 21st, we had quite a houseful! Bringing in first place was Roger Chenier, while Norm Burnell took second place. One of our newer members, Jeff
Marshall came in third. Claude Caron took the Booby prize, and he pulled Norm Burnell’s ticket for the 50/50. It was definitely Norm’s lucky night! Congratulations to all our winners! Our February tournaments will be on the 4th and 18th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Young at Hearts hall. Entry fee is $5, you don’t need a partner, and coffee and snacks are always free, so plan to join us for a fun evening of cards.

The first month of the year has come and gone. Oh, by the way, how are your resolutions going? Are you hanging on for dear life? Well, if it is that difficult after this length of time it is probably not meant to be. All of us find ourselves in similar difficulties, not the same maybe, but similar. We can lean on our life’s partner, or significant other who are a genuine source of encouragement along the way in our difficulties. There are times when it seems the difficulties we are living through that they will never end. We would be fooling ourselves if we thought that life should be clear sailing or smooth roads all the time. There are pot holes and breaks in the road that challenge us, both emotionally and characteristically. These difficulties behave like involuntary exercise routines to make us stronger and build endurance. When that happens
we are growing toward becoming a resource for someone else that may be watching us and admiring our victories that we may be oblivious to us. A professional driver told me one time, “when you find yourself in a skid, do not focus in front of you but place your sights further up the road.” He continued, “by doing that, one can observe the skid before it actually fully happens.” Such it is in life, learning to take our eyes off the near at hand, and focus on the exit that gives us victory over our difficulties. Here is a wonderful Psalm that we can use to encourage ourselves. “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (27:14). When we learn to lean on the Jesus we begin to realize that He is the ultimate source of strength and encouragement for our lives. I would like to extend an invitation to visit us at Richer Fellowship Church At 50 Southeast Drive in Richer. Sunday mornings (10:30) we are currently in a series on the Holy Spirit, and Wednesday (7pm) we are currently hosting classes on “A Healthy View Of Self”. These classes are a great resource for learning how to be confident in difficulties. We are most victorious through an intimate relationship with Jesus the Saviour.

“Here is everything you generously donated to Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue as well as a total of $505 in cash! Thank you all so much for supporting a great rescue!” - April and Ken Boer.
Richer Fireside Youth...
Looking Back at 2019 We have seen growth and change in our Youth group this past year, albeit baby steps. But we know it’s the baby steps that help Youth gain the confidence to take the big leaps necessary to growing up. As part of helping them tackle life, we’ve had opportunity to explore some tough subjects which has led to encouraging discussions. Above all, we have introduced Jesus Christ through the simple Gospel and kids have asked for Bibles. We look forward to another year of building friendships in 2020 and making lasting memories. Youth will meet on Friday Feb. 7 and Friday Feb. 21 from 7-9 pm at the Richer School gym. For more info please text Michelle at 204 3718021 call 204 424-5216 or email richerfiresideyouth@gmail.com.
