Fergy’s Designs
Celebrating Oklahoma's Women In Business
Drumright is home to many businesses, and Fergy’s Designs is one of our favorites. Owner Sara Neal-Ferguson creates a multitude of sewn items, from quilts and potholders to everything you could want in-between. 10 years ago Sara started quilting for craft shows. Quilts are very time-consuming, and the cost adds up fast, with big box stores selling blankets for so little. Some people don’t understand why they are expensive. Sara came up with smaller items like hanging towels and potholders to be more affordable for everyone. From there she added different kitchen items.

With the support from her Husband, Sara went from Craft Shows to a storefront in Drumright. Fergy’s Designs is filled with kitchen items such as microwave bowls (4 sizes), potholders (2 sizes), microwave potato bags, hanging kitchen towels, kitchen towel boas, freeze pop covers, skillet handle potholders and mug rugs (fabric coasters), and beautiful quilts. Sara is always adding new things for her store and craft show. Sara credits her Sister-in-law Jennifer Ferguson for giving her new ideas for products. Sara balances it all by working on projects while her Husband is working. On weekends they work craft shows together, so they get in plenty of time together. If Sara’s husband has to work, her sister Christeena Collins comes to the craft shows to help.

Sara Ferguson
When discussing how to succeed in business, Sara says it is important to believe in yourself and keep going. You will hear “no” a lot, keep going. Her advice to other women, the first couple of years can be hard but once your name and reputation gets out there it gets easier. Sara has made a name for herself by only using the best supplies and make sure all her items are high quality. Sara also explained how important it is to Network everywhere you go and to take your business cards everywhere you go. The biggest lesson Sara has learned is not to stress about having enough inventory for each show, reminding herself, she can make custom orders.
Sara says the best part of her business is seeing how happy her customers are when they pick up their quilts and custom orders. I love hearing how much they love their purchase and how wonderful the quality is. It is so important to keep up with new trends, including fabric patterns, and keeping her prices fair for her customers. Sara loves to invest in her community, by donating quilts for fundraisers, and gift certificates for teacher appreciation night. Sara says “ I love our Fire Department and Police Department for always keeping us safe.”
