PICK PAWNEE
Pawnee is the place to be in July! The old-fashioned “Games On The Square” Saturday, July 3rd were exciting, fun, wild and lots of laughs!! We had water balloon volleyball, turtle races (142 turtles), sack races, 3-legged sack races, boot throw contest, money in the straw for the little ones. A great bounce house and a delicious BQ truck that stayed busy all day. A beautiful and emotional flag-raising ceremony by our local VFW is always the highlight of the morning. That evening the City of Pawnee put on a Fabolous fireworks show at the Pawnee Lake. The Pawnee Indians Veteran Homecoming and Pow Wow, was truly spectacular this year. The Veterans started their Homecoming weekend with a great parade at noon on July 3 downtown Pawnee and continued their ceremonies that weekend. If you have never attended a Pawnee Pow Wow, you are missing a wonderful, beautiful and traditional event. July 24 is the official opening of Rodeo week here in town with Old Time Saturday Night Cruise-in on main street. Wonderful vintage, antique, and just amazing cars, jeeps, trucks and motorcycles will line our main street starting around 6 pm. Refreshments & vendors will all add to the excitement. The first event of the Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo week starts July 24th with the children’s Mini’s Buck event. Ages 6-8, 9-11 and 12-14 will be demonstrating their cowboy & cowgirl skills. July 27th 8pm is the kids rodeo with more excitement for the little ones. July 29 at 8 p.m. will be the official opening of the Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo with wild horse races, a wild cow milking contest and ranch bronc riding. Admission is $25 for a three-day pass (July 29, 30 & 31), single-day adults is $10 and $5 for children.
