Local Newspaper Study Finds Readers Shop Local The Cockburn Gazette recently polled their readers to see if they were willing to shop at locally owned establishments rather than always going to superstores and chain shops. The results were overwhelming. More than 90% of their readers said that they enjoy going to local stores and eateries. Hopefully, you feel the same way about your local businesses. Get Consumers Laughing to Boost Sales A recent study showed that nearly half of people find ads that make them laugh are the ones they connect with. Local businesses will do well to work in harmony with this trend. A local shopkeeper cannot afford to have a commercial run as long or air as often as a corporation. That means your ad needs to be the most memorable, and humour can certainly help with that. What is the craziest way that someone could use your product? Does your service solve a problem? Consider what would happen without your service. Now magnify that a hundred fold until it is truly ridiculous. Do you clean houses? Don’t just show a dirty house where your employee goes in, and then a clean house afterwards. Make the inside of the house the dirtiest house ever known to man or use metaphors like a swamp filled with ogres. Exaggeration is a great way to utilise humour in advertising.

7 Reasons Why A Professional Should Be Engaged To Develop Your Logo BY PENNY - PINK PIRANHA The design process is often subjective; and sidestepping the emotional land mines and personal politics is one of the most challenging aspects of the design process. While every situation is different, the best solution is to maintain a clear vision and connection to the primary goal. The designer, as an external consultant, will be able to see the bigger picture without being distracted by day-to-day operations. Frequently reminding the client of the desired outcome and central message is critical while producing a viable and effective logo that addresses the client’s goals and messages. The first step to achieving brand awareness in your target market is to gain visibility and maintain it throughout the life of that brand. To do this, brands have to be distinctive with a logo that is unique. The brands of your competitors have to be thoroughly assessed and anything similar has to be discarded. Anything cliché or obvious has to be avoided.
1) Identify, Don’t Explain
A logo is an identifier; it is a signpost that identifies the company and reflects its attitudes and values. A logo is a shortcut, a visual language that is quickly recognizable and memorable.

Sometimes there is value on paying a little extra and requesting a style guide to be developed for your brand. This guide clearly lays out how your logo can and can’t be used.
