CITIZENS ASSOCIATION OF GEORGETOWN CONCERTS IN THE PARKS Letter from the PRESIDENT Knowing that the Citizens Association of Georgetown’s (CAG) Concerts in the Parks series is about to begin is always a joyous thought. What better way to celebrate the coming of summer than by marking my calendar with the three Concert Sundays in our beautiful neighborhood parks. These concerts over the years have come to be one of my favorite ways for our community to come together. Every year more and more people bring their blankets and food and settle in for a few hours of outstanding entertainment. As a grandparent myself, I have to be honest that some of the best entertainment is watching the children enjoy themselves dancing, having fun at the sponsor tables, or kicking around a soccer ball with new-found friends. All of these fun times would not happen without many hours of organizing and planning by Hannah Isles and her energetic committee. My thanks goes out to everyone who has helped make the 2015 Concerts successful. I also want to thank all who supported the concerts by attending the terrific Kick Off party generously hosted by the George Town Club and chaired by Bo Blair. The money raised from that night provided the funds to cover a significant amount of the concert expenses. Our wonderful community-minded sponsors who are represented here in the playbill and also at the concerts also deserve much recognition. Without their financial support and enthusiasm, the concerts would not be possible -- and lets not forget all the treats they provide and fun activities they host at their tables! Although these concerts are free to the public, they cost quite a bit to produce and it is the sponsors that enable CAG to welcome everyone. CAG is the oldest civic association in Washington DC. For over 130 years the organization has, with the dedication of many volunteers, worked to preserve the character and community of the National Historic Landmark, which we call home. If you are not currently a member, I urge you to please see the membership form in this Playbill and consider joining. Your support is key to ensuring that events like this endure and that Georgetown remains a special place in which to live. Enjoy the concerts! Pamla Moore

REBECCA MCCABE
WITH HUMAN COUNTRY JUKEBOX
Rebecca McCabe’s musical roots run deep and started early. She began studying piano at age 4, was the church pianist where her father pastored in Brooklyn, New York by third grade, and studied piano at the renowned Chautauqua Institution in New York in high school. After earning a bachelors degree in college, she moved to Nashville, TN. Now Rebecca divides her time between Washington, DC, where she raises her two children, and Nashville, TN where she collaborates with legendary writers such as Bobby Braddock (Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and writer of George Jones’ famous hit, “He Stopped Loving Her Today”), Fred Koller (“Angel Eyes”) and Rory Bourke (“The Most Beautiful Girl”). Rebecca is represented by two major Nashville publishing companies, and composes and arranges for film and television in her home studio in Georgetown. She has performed live at such renowned venues as the Kennedy Center, Bluebird Cafe and Douglas Corner. A taste of Texas in the nation’s capital, a bit of Dixie in the District, The Human Country Jukebox plays the best classic country and western songs by the likes of Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and more. If these songs don’t get your hands clapping and your feet stomping you should probably see a doctor. And don’t say, “I don’t like country music.” If you like great singing, expert playing, soulful, bluesy, “I’m so sad I could drink, so happy I could drink some more” music then you’ll enjoy The Human Country Jukebox (www.humancountryjukebox.com).

THE PAUL PFAU BAND
Paul Pfau (rhymes with “wow”) is an award-winning singer-songwriter from the rural hills of western Maryland. His sound is often likened to a fusion between John Mayer and Michael Buble because of his crooning voice and tasteful guitar playing. In 2011 Paul was nominated Best New Artist by the Washington Area Music Association, opened for The Lumineers, and jammed with the Beach Boys. In 2012 he began recording his debut fulllength album, Happy To Be, with double-platinum recording engineer Sean Russell (Bruno Mars), which was mixed and mastered by grammy-award-winning engineers Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews Band) and Brad Blackwood (Maroon 5, Keith Urban, O.A.R). In 2013 Happy To Be won a WAMMIE for Debut Album of the Year. His most recent efforts have gained him national exposure on season eight of NBC’s hit show “The Voice.” Paul auditioned with Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon” which turned the chairs of both Blake Shelton & Pharrell Williams. After his success on the show Paul is relocating to Nashville, TN to work on his second studio album and returning to the road to connect with his new “pfriends”

THE WALKAWAYS
Wistful, nostalgic and honest. The Walkaways’ latest album Romance and Medicine is a personal effort, a journey and a new beginning for Washington, D.C.’s beloved alt-country band. After years of playing sold-out venues throughout the East Coast, developing a loyal fan base and winning accolades from The Washington Post, Washington City Paper, Washingtonian Magazine and OnTap Magazine, The Walkways are finally at the forefront of their local roots-rock scene.

WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE GEORGE TOWN CLUB for generously hosting the Concerts in the Parks 2015 Kick-Off Party
CITIZENS ASSOCIATION OF GEORGETOWN CONCERTS IN THE PARKS Concerts in the Parks Kick-off Party 2015! On March 12th, the George Town Club hosted an enthusiastic crowd of neighbors and friends who were clearly ready to celebrate spring for the annual Concerts in the Parks Kick-off party. Attendees enjoyed food, drinks and live music provided by the Satin Doll Trio jazz band. The proceeds from the event help underwrite the cost of producing Georgetown’s favorite summer concerts series. Many thanks to the enthusiastic host committee for making this event a great success!
