Getting to Know Marc Fleisher Even before entering college years ago, I had always been involved in sales. Following my ownership of an art gallery in Georgetown in the mid-1970s, I met my future wife and she convinced me that I if he were to remain in sales, I should sell expensive things! So I got into real estate‌ Although the income from being a successful real estate agent is attractive, the most satisfying part of my job is seeing sellers and buyers excited with the results of my efforts to either sell their home or find them a new home. After 33 years, I still get a big kick out of a happy and satisfied client. I am very loyal, completely committed to them, and highly ethical. Both my peers and my clientele know me as the most thorough real estate professional with extraordinary market knowledge, experience, and a great track record. I also believe that I have an incomparable network of industry insiders and the area’s finest builders, and I have these resources available at all times. My family is a huge part of my life, of course. But I also love to travel, both domestically and internationally. I like golf, tennis, music and movies too. And I love a good sense of humor!

DHM: What Real Estate trends did you see in 2013? What do you foresee for 2014? MF: In 2013, the market began to stabilize and in neighborhoods under $2 million, homes were finding multiple buyers in some instances. Washington DC with its millennium buyers was red hot. Bethesda and Chevy Chase continued to attract many buyers and the Potomac and outer suburbs found excellent values available. It is difficult to assess what may happen in the 2014 market as lenders will have increasing scrutiny from the federal government looking over their shoulders and the DoddFrank bill with its new qualification lending limitations may make it more difficult for many buyers to get financing. Yet having said this, the Washington DC marketplace will still remain very active and strong as there is a pent up demand by buyers in a market that has evidenced a smaller inventory of homes.

District Home Magazine: Carlos, you’re a lawyer and Lucinda is a designer, how did you get into real estate? Eng Garcia Properties, LLC: Essentially, our hobby became our vocation. We are obsessed with real estate. Initially, real estate provided a means for accruing wealth, slowly and steadily. We were buying, renovating and holding. Today, we advise buyers, sellers and investors in DC, MD and VA. We continue to grow our own wealth and assist our clients in growing theirs. We think about real estate 24/7. It’s a good fit for us. Lucinda and I bring complementary skills to the table. I practiced law for 12 years and Lucinda has been an interior designer for over 20. Our motto, “investment minded, design conscious” is about the yin and yang of real estate. Lucinda brings the creative and design perspective. DHM. Why invest in the city? EGP: It’s a great time to invest in DC.The city is improving, demand is strong, and the demographic trends point in the right direction. Around the country, capital is returning to the urban core and transportation hubs. DC epitomizes this trend and has particular advantages: amazing human capital and a well insulated, increasingly re-balanced regional economy. For highly skilled professionals, DC holds many opportunities. Our economy is now much more wellrounded and lifestyle choices in the city are very attractive.
