Alexandria, VA Basement Remodel Centers on Extensive Bourbon Collection

Alex and Iwona Petrov, principals of yZiGN Interiors renovated an Alexandria, Virginia basement, creating a personalized bourbon tasting room for the owners. As bourbon collectors who travel across the US, mainly to Kentucky and Tennessee to taste and purchase bourbon, the owners wanted a bourbon tasting room that not only refl ects the ones they see on their trips, but is also unique to their style. They requested an intimate and rustic room, one that evokes a moody vibe - a room with a deep south feel with a modern twist.

Among the interesting elements are recycled leather-wrapped cabinets that serve as the statement piece, while mirrored doors conceal storage on each side of the largest TV that could fi t in the space. It’s a small room, about 350-400 square feet, but it’s packed with storage, appliances including a freezer and refrigerator, and the wife’s art, such as a painting of her husband and their dog.

The Petrovs loved the owners’ passion during renovations, which was a collaborative e ort that took about a year from conception to completion. It also includes four swivel chairs, a repurposed oriental rug, luxury vinyl fl ooring, antique glass, and mood lighting along the ceiling and shelves.
