BIOPHILIC DESIGN

Biophilia - the suggestion that we possess the innate tendency to seek connections with nature. I.E: love of nature

Biophilic Design uses the idea of creating a human-centered approach to our interior spaces, which has proven to have many benefits to our health and well-being. Incorporating nature-inspired design elements has been shown to inspire us, increase our productivity, reduce stress, and enhance creativity and clarity. So how do we redesign our space? Here are some tips.

If your first thought was to incorporate more plants, you’re not wrong. But they do more than just add natural beauty. Plants are a vital element for improving indoor air quality, and you have many options - vertical garden walls, moss art, hanging Japanese kokedamas, to name a few.

One thing you’re probably missing out on is incorporating water fixtures. Water elements give the home decor a distinct personality and may be used to enhance the modern interior design and appeal to all of the senses. They provide a certain beauty and tenderness of organic design to modern rooms, which creates a relaxing impact. Some ideas include small water fountains, water gardens in a foyer, accent walls with waterfalls, and river pebbles with water trickling over them.
