KEEP THE FAITH …...If everything came easy there would be no reason to have faith. Life brings us challenges that sometimes we can’t talk to our friends and family about because the don’t have the answer. Challenges come to allow you to refocus and remember who your source is. I believe that this is the year greater things will happen for me and for you. Things that we have been praying about for many years will manifest this year. I just believe God is going to show himself mighty and we will experience life and life more abundantly. So I encourage you not to give up on your goals, dreams, family, and being financially independent, a home owner ,and any thing your heart desires. God wants you to turn to him and trust him only. He will not leave your nor forsake you. God has a plan for your life. A plan to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

P. 5 Divine Connections

P. 6 Divine Connections What is the most memorable thing that you can remember getting for graduating high school? I remember distinctly getting the news that I had an incurable chronic illness. My name is Shenise Wilson Glenn and I have been living with crohns disease for 9 years. I was diagnosed in April of 2008, I was 18 years old and just two months away from finishing high school. At the time, it felt like all my hard work and dreams were being stripped away from me, I was always tired or in pain and I was taking 11 pills a day at the age of 18! Crohns for me, has not been kind. I have had surgery 3 times due to complications from the disease, the last as recent as January 2017. I have been hospitalized more times than I can recall, in 2014, my daughter thought that I lived at the hospital because I was there from July 27 th until September 6th. I have lost jobs and many opportunities because I couldn’t get off of my couch due to the pain or the almost unexplainable fatigue. There are over 700,000 people in the United States living with crohns disease with stories similar or even worse than my own yet, many people have never even heard of the condition. Crohns disease is an autoimmune disorder, in which the immune system attacks healthy cells along the GI track causing inflammation, it is also classified as inflammatory bowel disease or IBD and there is no cure at this time. Symptoms of the disease include but are not limited to diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue, pain or tenderness in the abdomen, and blood in the stools but the only sure way to know if you have the disease is to be seen by a doctor who will more than likely need to do a colonoscopy. There are treatments and medications for crohns however, they can be quite expensive and if you factor in visits with a specialist, ER or hospital visits, should you need to go, were talking about costs well into the 1000s and that’s not even considering someone without insurance. If you find yourself without insurance for any reason, you can contact your local social services and inquire about state funded aid, look into online pharmacy discount cards, talk to your doctor about generic prescriptions or samples, check if your area has any public health clinics that may offer a sliding scale based on your income. Lastly, there are a few foundations that offer resources and information and may even help with disease related costs such as the crohns and colitis foundation of America, The PAN foundation and Needy Meds. My mission for sharing my story is simple. AWARENESS! Also, although crohns is a serious chronic condition that keeps its sufferers from working or living normal day to day lives, we are denied disability, treated as nuisances when we have to go to the ER, accused of being drug seekers when we need pain medication and so much more. How I have decided to raise awareness is by telling my story. I have dedicated my social media presence to stories of my own as well as others, photos, and more. I am building a website that will not only share other crohns fighters story’s but will provide information, resources and hopefully in the future, a way to donate to research and crohns patients who are experiencing financial hardship. In addition to that, I am building an expressive online t-shirt business with different sayings/slogans and quotes pertaining to the disease whether it be silly or serious. Lastly, I along with my mother, will host various awareness events in and around the city throughout the year. If you would like to reach me to tell your story, inquire more about crohns or give to the cause please feel free to email me at SheniseWilson_89@yahoo.com. Also, you may reach out to me on any of my various social media platforms, Facebook (Shenise Wilson Glenn), Instagram (@prettyisniseysfight) and Snapchat (@pretty_isnisey). I am also available for speaking engagements, interviews, and community awareness projects. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and learning about Crohns Disease. “Awareness is the first step to a cure!” ~Candy Gaither Hewins. My name is Shenise and I am a crohns disease fighter!

Angela Hood Marshall “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.” -Eccl. 12: 13-14

“She’s ugly, stinky, bony, poor, or a black sheep.” “She will never amount to anything.” “She will always be a boyfriend stealer.” “Is this me?” “Are they right?” “Am I what they say I am?” Sticks and stones may break your bones, but we all know that words really do hurt! Like others, I allowed people to speak ill of me while I remained silent. Then one day, I spoke up! I decided that I am not who they say I am. I’m not ugly! I’m not a reject! I am somebody, even when I make mistakes in life! I am who God says I am! I spoke up for myself. I challenge you to do the same. Find the confidence within to speak up for yourself. Love yourself enough to open your mouth, declare blessings over your entire life, and refuse to be silent. What happens is that people peek in and see where they believe God is taking you, and they become afraid of who you will be, and rightfully so. God created a masterpiece when He created you, and I challenge you to accept it, grow in it, and go forward! You are beautiful! You are gifted! You are more than you could ever think. Even though the words hurt, I didn’t allow them to stop me, and neither will you. I learned that I had the right to not be silent. Through my struggles of being molested and teenage pregnancy, I vowed to be better. I vowed to be successful. I vowed to make a difference in this Earth. I vowed to no longer be silent. I gave myself permission to win by giving myself permission to speak! - Angela’s Submission in “Permission to Win” pg. 123

In life we can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Therefore, you can’t predict a person’s future by their yesterday. You have to hear the conclusion of the whole matter. It’s wise to read a book from the beginning to the end. It’s a reason why you should watch a movie from start to finish. Things that happen in the dark does come to light and the greatness in a person will always surface somehow and someway. So, why does a person act the way they act? Why do they do what they do or say what they say and go where they go? Why do young children join gangs and older people that seem successful become alcoholics or drug addicts? Why do millionaires go bankrupt? Why would a young girl or woman become promiscuous? Why do so many look for love in all the wrong places, trying to find themselves? Only to find that after periods of time that they were never in that place at all. These are just a few questions that occur because of matters of the heart and perceptions of the mind.

At the age of 5, I remember lying on the floor while a male molested me. I didn't know that's what was happening. All I knew is I didn’t like it. Because of this, I use to cry all the time as a child. My siblings called me a cry baby. They had no clue why I cried so much. I use to hate whenever my mom was not around me. I’d cry whenever she left to go anywhere without me. Others probably thought I was crying because I was spoiled and wanted mommy. But I knew that if mom was around I was safe. As I grew older I began to remember what had been like light-years away in my mind. Those visuals began to come back to me. When I fully remembered them, I was married and it change my life drastically.

At age of 16, I had my first child. The father did not claim my child and I was looked at as a liar. I was talked about, picked on, threatened, and laughed at, isolated, humiliated and often embarrassed. So, I continued this path making mistake after mistake after mistake.

I will never forget that at the age of, I think, 17, I hurt one of my closest friend’s feelings by getting back with my 9th grade boyfriend who was currently her boyfriend. I considered myself to be the black sheep of the family and school. But I vowed then never to hurt another female.

By the time I was 25, I was divorced and pregnant with my 3rd child. Again out of wedlock and again my child was rejected by the father. I felt rejection after rejection after rejection. I felt worthless. I felt ugly. I felt abandonment. I was angry! At the age of 27, I tried to commit suicide by taking an overdose of Tylenol 500 only to be awakened unharmed. That’s the day that I didn’t stop making mistakes but I realized that God was truly with me. These are just some of the memorable events in my life that turned me into a statistic. Even in my high school senior yearbook, the writers tried to predict my future. Not realizing that my mishaps made me a better person.

P. 8 Divine Connections Frank Sonnenberg wrote in 7 ways to live life with purpose. He stated that “some people measure success by the wealth they’ve accumulated, the power they’ve attained, or the status they’ve achieved. Yet, even though they’ve reached success beyond their wildest dreams, they still have an empty feeling — something is missing from their life. In order to fill that void and be completely fulfilled in life, their soul may be searching for something more.”

My success has come not by wealth, achievement, power, or status. It has not been through titles and goals and dreams or possessions. It didn’t come by my education and all the extra continuing education classes I took but my success came when I truly received God in my life...for real. My success intensified by me overcoming my demons. I am successful for the simple fact that I can expose myself of my own faults. No one has to remind me or add to it. I’ll expose myself. I defeat human noise spoken about me because I can admit I have problems and issues. I can admit that I am imperfect and only the power of God can sustain me.

My purpose came about when I became vulnerable to God. When I got tired of me. I had to stop blaming others and get tired of who I knew I wasn’t suppose to be. I knew that I was in need of special care, support, and protection from God. I needed protection from me. I have had so much built up anger. I was disappointed, discouraged, rejected, exposed, embarrassed, humiliated and more. Instead of seeing the things that was good about me all I could see was the bad things I’d done. The rough things I’d said and the disturbing places I went…...until God got a hold of me.

My success, passion and purpose surfaced through this scripture and other passages that spoke clearly to me. It was a simple instruction that wasn’t easy to do. I was to fear (reverence, respect, and love) God and to do what He tells me to do.

I’m 43 years old now. I’ve worked several jobs. I’ve had many positions. I wear lots of hats (things that I am whether to me or others) and has taken many classes and have a degree. I changed from one man to another. One friend to another. I changed clothes by sizes. Even cars and houses but one thing that didn’t change was my purpose and that’s the love I have for people.

I channeled that anger and that hate and fueled it with forgiveness and love. My purpose, my desire is to make sure you feel good about yourself. It’s to help you unlock the treasure(s) that is hidden deep on the inside of you. It’s the matters of the heart and the perception of your thinking that can either make you or break you.

Today, after all that I mentioned that I’ve done and that’s just a little bit, I am a mother, grandmother, friend, Evangelist, Author, Life Coach, CEO, Talk Show and Radio Host, and Public Speaker. I know my purpose and in every area of my life it’s to serve others. It is my purpose to pull out your God-given potential. It’s to speak life into people who feel that they have no hope and no future. It’s to encourage them that no matter what mistakes you have made, God didn’t make a mistake when He made you. You are here on this earth for a reason. As you look back over your life, consider that your story has not been told. You need to know that your latter is greater than where you began. You can’t quit in the middle. You must go forth and see what the conclusion of your life will be. Fear God and do as He tells you and you will always succeed. Remember success is not always in what you have but in how you overcome. You are an overcomer.

THIS IS NO

KEILAN ROGERS

ORDINARY YOUNG MAN

Greetings in the name of our savior. My name is Keilan Rogers. I am a 15 year old church based sound technician. I have been working with a variety of digital and analog mixers for almost 3 years. I had never been an active member of any ministry until I joined Beyond Measure Ministries. Upon joining I almost immediately began to gravitate toward the sound station. Soon after that time I became interested in sound production I was asked about taking a position in the station. I was so ecstatic I did not even ask what I would be doing. Starting off I was responsible for making labels and filing CD recordings of our services. I am now responsible for producing those CD’s as well as a variety of other tasks. The move of God in my life has been absolutely amazing. I would like to thank my Pastor, Lead Pastor Shannon Long. I do not believe I would have saw this potential in myself had it not been for a man who so generously has taken me under his wing. La’Var Eubanks. He appointed me as sound technician. He endured a lot of mockery and ridicule for me and I am forever grateful for him. I must thank our Lord for all things, he has showed me countless things and helped me come to realizations I never would have on my own.
