Greetings from your Lt.G Hello Division 28 Key Clubbers! It is my honor to serve as your 2014-2015 Lieutenant Governor. I have to say that this past month was a blast. In such a short amount of time, Division 28 has already shown me so much spirit, leadership, and passion. As the year progresses, I hope Division 28 is able to successfully grow even more within each individual member and club. Together, we can make a difference. The month of May is the month when each officer officially takes over their club and the torch is passed onto the new board. However, it’s also that time of the year when membership tends to decrease. But do not fret! This is the perfect time to show your club what the new officer board is made of. Show your club what you learned at DCON, at the workshops, and what you’ve learned from other fellow officers. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me this past month. From helping me run my very first DCM/PCM, to recent club visits, there’s no way I could’ve done everything without the Kiwanians and fellow Key Club member’s encouragement. I hope to see many of you guys at the May Joint DCM this month! Invite all your friends even if they’re not in Key Club. See you all soon! In Love and Service,

Jenna Liang Lieutenant Governor of Division 28

Project 1 baby dies every 9 minutes from tetanus

$1.80 protects 1 woman and her future babies

MNT has been eliminated in more than 20 countries since 2000

MNT results when tetanus spores, which are present in soil everywhere, enter the bloodstream. It is mainly caused by a lack of access to sanitary birthing conditions, unclean instruments used to cut the umbilical cord and unclean postpartum cord care. Once the disease is contracted, the fatality rate can be as high as 100 percent in underserved areas. Most mothers and newborns who die of tetanus live in areas of Africa, South Asia and East Asia, where many woman are poor, having little access to health care, have unlimited information about safe delivery procedures and continue harmful cord care practices.
