letter from

lieutenant governer hi peacocks, It's the holidays season! Sadly, we can't go out and spend time with our families and friends like we used, but the more we stay safe and social distance, the quicker we'll be able to meet in person again! Hopefully I'll get to see you when you drop off your coins for the Kiwanis Family House so make sure you're still collecting those! Stay warm and cozy! I know it's been pretty hot, but you know what I mean!

letter from

west hills president hi! I am Makena Garcia and I am the president of West Hills High School's Key Club. I am currently a senior and right now, very busy with school and finishing up all my college applications. I love to sing and I want to pursue a career in nursing! As president, my plans for this year are to increase the number of members in our club as best we can and retain them. I plan to do this by having weekly service events that we complete as a club. With this years limitations, it has been difficult to keep members active, but we are trying our best to plan service projects our members can complete from the safety of their home and have fun in the process. By increasing members and maintaining member retention I will help grow the division by introducing new people to our club and this lovely key club family!

introducing

fundraiser coordinator hi peacocks! My name is Mariam and I was born in San Diego. Being 17 years old and a senior in high school, I've always wanted to get involved and help people, Key Club was the perfect club to help me achieve this. I also met wonderful people during this. I felt that Key Club is the club to help out others and meet new friends in the process, which benefits us also in a way. I love trying new things and some things that I like to do is art, go to the beach and play tennis. I am excited to be the fundraiser coordinator and I am excited to help plan some fundraisers.

welcome to the team! 06

Division Goals 2020-2021 term total service hours

2,000

914.25 service hours earned so far! That's 46% our goal!

due paid members

300

Make sure that you have paid your dues each year as it is important since it ensures that the hours that you have accumulated each term is transferred and given to you. It allows you to attend major events such as Fally Rally and District Convention, and utimately, these dues go towards the club, the CNH District, Key Club International, and charity.

08

more info on paying dues can be found on page 10!

donations to ptp

$1,500

So far, we have been able to raise $48.13 for the Pediatric Trauma Program! We'll be having more fundraiser events in the future! Let's work hard to keep donating to a good cause!

what is ptp? By donating, PTP (Pediatric Trauma Program) is able to improve the outcomes for children who experience pediatric trauma by providing grants to partner hospitals, which enable them to reach out to their communities with educational materials, safety equipment and information on childhood trauma prevention.

So basically, donations raised from club and division fundraisers are used to help fund hospitals and medical equipment!

member dues

paying dues what are dues? All Key Club members must pay membership dues every term to be considered an official member. This money goes into charity, the district and for Key Club international.

why should i pay? Paying dues gives you many benefits! Such as being able to attend District Convention (DCON) or Fall Rally. You can also apply for scholarship opportunities through your recorded official hours. Dues allow Key Club to run smoothly and ultimatly go back into the members!

how do i pay? Dues depend on the home club, but talk to your club's president or the ltg! Your school club should have drop-off dates prepared to

10

collect dues!

Soul Boxes consists of folding origami boxes, the creation of each box being not only a therapeutic experience, but a powerful one. Through the work of dedicated volunteers at the Soul Box Project, these boxes will be put on display in an exhibit bringing awareness to the gun violence epidemic raging throughout United States. Steele made twenty-five soul boxes and spent a collective of sixteen hours!
