Christmas

Happy December everyone! I sure hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I cannot believe how fast this year has gone and that we are now in the last month of 2020! I have to say, this year has been undoubtedly difficult for all of us but I think it's really amazing how everyone found new ways to do the usual and adapted under the circumstance! As much as I enjoyed making this winter, holiday themed newsletter for you all, I hope that you too will have a good time reading it!

Happy holidays, Suyeon Hwang

November DCM The November division council meeting was held virtually via Zoom on the 14th. Key club members of all clubs around the division got together to share their club achievements and get informed of division updates, upcoming events, and recognition! After the initial meeting a "upcycling" event took place, where members created new objects out of old items around their house.

MONTEREY "For the month of October, Monterey's service projects were Food Pantry Volunteering, Charity Miles for UNICEF, creating origami cranes, PTP Bingo, and the UNICEF math game. Many students sent in their walking and running distances! Emily Hernandez killed it! She had a total of 46 miles! Students also created origami cranes online through Cranes4Cancer.com. Charlize Fritzie Santos designed an awesome crane and left a sweet note! For our final service project of October, key clubbers were able to raise money by solving math problems on the UNICEF website! Camila Jeronimo Mora spent 40 minutes solving problems and raised up to $110!"

- Dezirae Jade Fernandez

SEASIDE "The Seaside High Drive-Thru event was honestly, very fun. It was our first time volunteering at this event and we had a great amount of work cutout for us to keep us on our toes! I found this event to be the perfect bonding opportunity with others. We were greeted and given proper instructions, they were very kind and thankful for us being there. Overall i would definitely do this service event again, especially with my fellow KeyClubbers!" - Antonio Vasquez

"This past Halloween I was able to participate in the drive-through trick-ortreat events at both Seaside High and Los Arboles Middle School with Seaside’s Key Club. I was made aware of the events by some of my friends in Key Club and I was very interested in getting out and giving back to the community during these hard times. This was my first event with Key Club and I am happy to report that it lived up to and even exceeded my expectations. I found the experience to be fulfilled in multiple ways; not only did I get to give back to my community

in a time of need, but I also was able to build my friendships with the members I volunteered with. I was able to spend time with and make new friends, and I definitely want to continue to participate in as many Key Club events as I can going forward." - Chris WIlbon

"The voting event was really fun despite it being so hot! I enjoyed seeing some key clubbers again and chatting like old times. We walked around an apartment complex dropping off baggies with voting papers to encourage people in our community to vote! It was a 10/10 experience :)" - Kali Hurley

SAN BENITO “At the downtown clean up I helped pick up trash and I just cleaned up the sidewalks if it needed to be bloomed or just cleaned of leaves to make it look more tidy. Hollister gets so dusty and it’s a lot of work to clean up all the dust and dirt but it sure does look way nicer when you’re done! The event is about giving back to the city and all it’s done for us by beautifying the streets to make Hollister look more appealing and give it back that natural charm that Hollister has. This event was actually kind of fun in a way. It was fun to get out and see some people from my club and talk while cleaning with them. I would definitely sign up for this service opportunity again” - Nathan Rodriguez

“At the downtown clean up, we, including 5 members of Key Club + many others helped clean up the sidewalks downtown. We were split into groups and assigned places to clean up. We cleaned up the leaves and trash. At the end of the event, the sidewalks looked spotless. I really enjoyed this event so much. I actually got to meet people and talk to people in real life, instead of talking to them behind a computer screen. Also it was super fun and had a blast. I 10/10 would do an event similar to this again.” - Mj Bagaoisan

“Treat street was a city recreational event where we were able to give candy to families from the safety of their cars. I was at this event last year and the way it was modified to be within the Covid19 protocols this year was really just brilliant. I'm really glad I was able to help keep the holiday spirit flowing in the streets of Hollister and it is always so fun to see people excited about dressing up and getting candy.” - Jovanna Huerta

“Hollister Recreation’s Drive in Movies was such a fun and exciting event! Us volunteers set up for the event and we fundraised money! Being able to volunteer and set up such a wonderful event during these times was so amazing.” Kayla Salazar
