Farewell From Your Lt.G I know I already said farewell in my last newsletter, but I wanted to make a few final remarks- I'll keep it short. Thank you. Thank you for being the best division I could ever ask to lead. Thank you for having the passion and energy to overcome the struggles we've had in the past. Thank you for always putting those around you first, and being a catalyst in your community. Thank you for being some of the most incredible people I've ever met. Thank you, Division 56, from the bottom of my heart. I may be serving in a different capacity this year, but I will always be here for you all. Please contact me if you ever need help, have questions, or want to talk. In love and service, Dmitri Saberi IP Division 56 LTG (509) 432-8009

Greetings From Your Lt.G Knock knock. Who’s there?

My name is Jane Tang and I’m so honored to officially be serving as your Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 for the 2017-2018 year! I hope that those of you who attended DCON this past weekend found it to be a very inspiring and fun-filled experience, and were able to take lots out of it. I hope that this year will be a year for growth not only in terms of strengthening the division as a whole, but also in terms of strengthening individual clubs by focusing on the relationship between members, and members and officers. Therefore, my main focus is communication. With this, I’m excited to schedule club visits and get to know you all a bit better. I have already started to communicate with your club presidents, and will continue to do so on a monthly basis to make sure that everything is running smoothly. In other news, I have decided to open up applications for a divisional editor position! I believe that this will promote greater understanding of all the clubs in our division by keeping everyone updated with what’s going on in individual clubs on a more direct basis. For more information, turn to page 9! I’m super excited to work with everyone and I have confidence that this year will be a great year in service! If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me! In Love and Service,

Jane Tang Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International ltg56@pnwkeyclub.org (509) 432-8009

Dear Dmitri, Although this letter is a thank you from the whole (yet very small) Moscow High School Key Club, it gets personal for me. When you introduced yourself to me (then brand new to the presidency) as division 56's new LTG, I had only two questions. What's division 56 and what's an LTG? Over the course of the school year, the club that I knew for 3 years prior had changed completely, but 100% for the better. We not only grew our club in numbers but also in participation in both our town and our division that we came to know and love. I've grown as MHS's key club president more than I ever thought I could and it's all thanks to you. Because of you, we attended our first DCM, our first East Side Rally, our first election rally. And Dmitri, of course, Sarah, Lauryn, Grant, and I attended MHS's first ever DCON and it's all thank to you. I personally accredit you for the immense success of our key club this past year that you served as division 56's LTG. You've set up our club to be huge in the upcoming years, and for that we are thankful. Our dedicated officers adore you and we couldn't be prouder that you will now serve as the district governor. As most of us go on to graduate, we wish you the best of luck. And as you get swept up in the madness in the following months, please remember your roots and your favorite division. We are proud of you, we appreciate you, and we love you. Thank you for everything, Moscow High School Key Club Division 56 -Katie Landreth, Immediate past Moscow Key Club President Dearest Dmitri, It has been an honor and pleasure working with you this past year. You picked up a broken Division and put the pieces back together as well as you could and although this isn’t division 28, your true home, we here at division 56 appreciate your work and efforts. You have taught my club, including myself, more about Key Club than anyone in the past has been able to do so. You connected our clubs and I know that they will continue to flourish together in the future all because of you. You have been an amazing LTG and an even greater friend, thank you for exposing me to many great things whether it be good music, new friends, or the fact that you’re really gullible and that Orofino Key Club is amazing at pranking you and stressing you out all while still being your favorite club, haha. I hope this next year of high school and Key Club will be amazing for not just you but for the division and the district, you’re an amazingly selfless person and I couldn’t and wouldn’t have wanted to imagine to working with anyone but you. Oh yes p.s. I Know you are really going to miss our PCM’s and the fact that Shyam and I were never on track 93% of the time. Yes, we were in fact talking about you in messenger while we were supposed to be having our meetings, and yes sometimes we would just laugh to make you think there was something when there actually wasn’t. I propose group video calls between the three of us so that you don’t miss us harassing you. Love you Scarebeebs. Cynthia Guitron A.K.A. your favorite Key Club President, Immediate past Orofino Key Club President

When I met Dmitri for the first time, I remember we had a competition to see who could catch the most butterflies during recess. Needless to say, I crushed him, thereby inciting a great friendship and rivalry. I have had the gift of watching Dmitri grow over the last 12 years - both in leadership, and in width (7th grade Dmitri had a serious case of the chubs). Through all of the ups and downs that he faced, Dmitri always stayed positive, and by the time he reached High School, he was on the verge of becoming a star! Dmitri began to rise through the ranks of Key Club! JK he lost twice in club level elections - BUT THIS WAS NOT THE DMITRI I KNEW. He focused all of his energy on Division 56's LTG elections, and he was rewarded with the position in his sophomore year! Dmitri set out to transform his district, and I had the blessing of working with him as President of our home key club during his term. Under his tutelage, our Division prospered, with our club nearly tripling it's DCON attendance, and charitable donations. Dmitri capped of his incredible term by losing to me in 20 consecutive games of ping pong, and by becoming the new DGOV of the PNW district! On a more serious note, Dmitri helped me grow as a person over the last decade through his continual push to better those around him. I can quite honestly say that Dmitri completely transformed my life through the Key Club spirit he brought. I love you Sabeebs, and I can't wait to see what you accomplish in the future! Losing to me in more games of ping pong sounds like fun ~ Shyam Venkatasubramania, Immediate past Pullman Key Club President Dmitri, Time Flies! Although your term as our LtG is coming to an end, I know that your passion and dedication for this organization is undwindling. The impact you make on all of the Key Clubbers here at PHS and around the division is truly unmatched and incredible. Throughout all the times we’ve been through, you have always been there to not only support me but make me and all the people around you better. I am extremely excited to be working alongside you again to make our club better in the next year as well. Your impending Governance of the District only raises that bar higher. You went from being just a kid from a rural city in the middle of nowhere to a long-standing figure of service and a figure for the entire Pacific Northwest district. I know you are just getting started because the potential you have and the plans you devised to lead our District will be amazing. I am so happy for you and confident in your abilities to continue doing fantastic things for Key Club. Once again, thank you so much for being the friend you are, the leadership you have shown, and the dedication for service you epitomize. You have continuously made me and all the rest of Division 56 prouder and prouder, and now it’s time to make the entire district just as proud. In love and service, Andy He, Immediate past Pullman Key Club Treasurer

Hey Dmitri, I want to start off by thanking you. Thank you so much for your support throughout everything, and thank you for the time you always carve out of your day to make sure I’m doing okay. Thank you for the tea when I’m sick, thank you for the late night walks when I’m lonely, thank you for the twenty minute bubble tea hangout sessions, thank you for the love and care you have always shown me. You are an incredible individual, and I truly am blessed to have met someone like you. It’s hard to believe that you have grown so much in the past year, and it’s even harder to imagine about how much you’re going to grow up, learn, and develop this coming year. I’m so proud of you, Dmitri. You’ve come so far and you’ve done it all without leaving anyone behind. There is no doubt that our district is in good hands, and that you will work to fulfill all your promises. It’s going to be a journey and I’m not entirely sure what will happen, but I’m excited to be a part of it, and to support you in every way. I’m always here for you…you know that. If you ever need some extra encouragement and a shoulder to lean on, remember that. I love you so much Dmitri, and I’m so grateful to have you as our newest District Governor. Love, Ally Herr, Immediate Past Pullman Club Editor Dmitri, Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for the division and the district. You really pulled us all together this year and helped us make those connections that were missing previous to your term. This past year serving with you has truly been a pleasure. To be completely honest, I never would have imagined myself serving on the officer board, being given an opportunity to branch out of my introverted shell into a leadership role and being given the blessing to develop relationships with such amazing people. I never would have imagined myself having to write this newsletter, to have wanted to continue to be a servant leader. I never would have imagined myself even writing this letter to you. It is because of this organization that I got to know you better, and I will be forever grateful. You have been a huge part of my Key Club journey. Through your actions and words, you have made division 56 the strongest it has ever been, inspiring me to serve selflessly, and to hold on to the good things along the way. Thank you for all the support you’ve given me. We’re sad to see you leave as our lieutenant governor, (and I know that I have some big shoes to fill), but I’m so excited to continue working with you this year, and can’t wait to see where you take the PNW district as District Governor  In love and service, Jane Tang, Immediate past Pullman Key Club Secretary

Dear Dmitri, Congrats on DGOV. You deserve it and I'm v proud. See you soon.

In love and service, Aasiya Islam, Immediate Past Vice President of Pullman Key Club Division 56 of the Pacific Northwest District Key Club International --p.s thx for trolling all year, i'll miss it most

PNW DCON 2017 Recap

The Pacific Northwest Key Club District Convention was held in Portland, Oregon, at the Oregon Convention Center from March 31st to April 2nd. Key Clubbers from the PNW district gathered together this weekend to celebrate service through spirit battles, workshops, and more! It truly was an opportunity to learn more about, and conquer the elements of service! Hope to see you in Oregon from March 15-18 next year for DCON 2018!

Meet the Executive Board My name is Dmitri Saberi, and I am so honored and excited to be serving as your 2017-2018 District Governor. Key Club is an organization that is not just capable of creating incredible opportunitiesit is capable of changing lives. I have definitely had a life-changing three years of service, and am looking forward to another amazing year! Through my experience as a member, Lieutenant Governor, and now, a District Governor, I have gotten the opportunity to see Key Club from several different angles. What all those perspectives had in common was their focus: making a positive impact on those around us. My core plan as District Governor is centered around that, and I hope that we can create that impact as a District this year. But throughout my term, please keep in my mind that I am also a member just like you. Never hesitate to shoot me a text, email, or message with questions, concerns, or if you just want to talk! I am always here for you all, and one of the most rewarding parts of Key Club for me is connecting with you guys. Thanks so much, and I look forward to seeing you, talking to you, and working with you throughout the year! My name is Ashley Villanueva and I am both humbled and honored to be serving as your District Secretary for the 2017-2018 service year. Key Club has given hundreds of thousands of high schoolers across the globe the opportunity to be a part of a something much greater than they thought—the largest student-led service organization in the world. Because of this, we have all been impacted through the power of service. And this is what motivates me to not only serve you as a District Board member, but to connect, assist, and relate to you in any way possible! As I am entering my last year in Key Club, I hope to utilize my past experiences as club vice president and lieutenant governor, to the best of my ability while serving as District Secretary by increasing the bonds, communication, and voices heard around the district, while simultaneously being the support system to secretaries and ultimately the members. It may seem daunting to think about the “Executive Board” and the hierarchy of Key Club, but honestly, no title or position will define how we are all a part of the 270,000+ members in Key Club International. Keeping this in mind, you will hear or see this a lot by supposed “higher-ups”, but we really do mean it when we say to not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Reach me through text, email, social media, or snail mail! Thank you for reading! I look forward to working with the rest of the District Board to ensure that you have a fun and successful service year.

My name is Brian Nguyen and I am thrilled to be serving as your District Treasurer for the 2017-2018 Key Club term. I can’t wait to connect with all of you and bring our district to greater heights! Some of my goals for this term is to continue serving our communities and increase communication with you, the members, to ensure financial transparency. I hope to educate and update you all through my quarterly Treasurer Snapshots, which will have information that will help you increase your club’s financial success. This will be my fourth and final year in Key Club. Before serving as District Treasurer, I was honored to have the opportunity to serve as a Lieutenant Governor and Divisional Executive Assistant. The most important thing I’ve learned during my Key Club journey is that the members are the core of our district, and assisting you in any way possible will continue to keep us as the Pacific NorthBEST! If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk, feel free to contact me at any time. In the end, I’m just another Key Clubber who’s eager to serve the community and meet new people! My name is Kaho Otake (Yes, it does start with K, just like Key Club) and I am beyond honored and humbled to be serving as your 2017-2018 District Editor! While I may not be a familiar face to everyone, I, along with rest of the Executive Board, am Proud N’ Willing to Serve each and every one of you. For the past three years, Key Club has been a central part of my life: it taught me the value of service, perseverance through obstacles, and commitment to a cause. This year, my goal is to connect I, myself, to U, through inviting, informing, inspiring, and uniting all members. I can't wait give the attention and publicity that the Espresso deserves, and I hope you are just as excited. You can usually find me at Key Club events, camera in hand - so, don’t hesitate to say hi! Thank you!
