Greetings From Your Lt.G The year is really taking off! I want to begin by making a few exciting announcements! First off, we now have an Area Administrator, Gabriel Mease! We really appreciate you, Gabriel! Also, congratulations to our fellow division 56 member, Andy He, on being appointed PNW District Communications Director for the 2017-2018 year! We are already doing some great things this year, and will continue to do great things throughout this year, Division 56! In other news, I’ve recently scheduled club visits to both Moscow and Orofino before the school year ends, and I’m looking forward to seeing all your lovely faces, and getting to know you all better! We also have our first DCM coming up, (the tentative date is set for Friday, June 2nd), so be on the lookout from both your club president and me for more information about that in the next couple of weeks! (refer to page 9). DCMs are a great way to strengthen connection throughout the division. By drawing each club in the division to one central location, it provides a wonderful opportunity to interact with all other members throughout our division! Please come! I hope to see you all there! If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me! I’d be happy to chat! P.s. May is always a hectic month so remember to take care of yourself! Good luck to all of you in AP tests, SATs, Final exams, etc. In Love and Service,

Jane Tang Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International ltg56@pnwkeyclub.org (509) 432-8009

Pullman

Club Updates Pullman has been quite relaxed since DCON, but one thing the officers have been promoting is a big end-of-the-year car wash! We hope to make this another one of our staple events in the year along with the Dissmore’s BBQ and Trickor-Treat for unicef. After DCON, we have been putting our focus more on club meetings and how to reach members who have left. Pullman has implemented several committees within the club that closely aligns with the committees in the PNW District. We’ve also emphasized member involvement, interest, and input. Not only have we been holding periodic surveys to learn more about member’s ideas and suggestions, but Pullman has also started a remind.com to more efficiently be connected with the members. Our meetings have seen a drastic change as well. We’ve “mixed-it-up” a bit more by trying to incorporate various activities into these meetings that have a different central focus each week (guest speaker, powerpoint, service project). For now, we will be focusing on our soon-to-occur car wash and will be meeting with the committees to make sure a plan for that will run smoothly. The officers have emphasized that key club involvement does not and should not end in the summer, as service is a year-long and never-ending activity. Andy He, Pullman President

Moscow Club updates continued just elected new officers last Friday. They just helped with a fishing clinic for kids at Spring Valley and plan to set up a Builders Club at the Moscow Middle School next semester. They are currently working on a teacher talent show in order to raise enough money to fund the Builders Club.

Orofino

Grant Clary, Moscow President

has been busy this month with multiple service projects. April 29 was Community Clean Up Day in Orofino, and Key Clubbers participated along with the rest of the community to help clean up garbage around town. On April 30, Key Clubbers helped paint the local dog pound in coordination with National Honor Society. Both projects went well. As a continuation of the division wide Triple-C plan, Orofino Key Club has started an official school email for official Key Club communication, and we have also started the use of Remind to text members reminders of meetings and events. honestly proud to be a part of division 28! #pnwrepresent Keelan Chen, Orofino President

Meet your Appointed Chairs! My name is Dennis Mach and I truly am honored and thrilled to be serving you, as your Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair for the 2017-2018 service year. I am from Division 21, home of the Bumblebees, and I also go to Mariner High School, home of the Marauders! Key Club has made a significant impact in my life, and I want to make sure that every future key clubber and member get that same experience. In Membership Growth, I plan on establishing an ideal goal with my committee for our district, which is to reach 13,500 Key Club members by DCON 2018 in Portland, Oregon. I plan on promoting membership resources, reactivating suspended/inactive clubs, producing membership recruitment videos, updating Key Club flyers and chartering new clubs. I will also work really close with our current District Treasurer to make sure that all clubs are paying their dues on time. As Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair, I plan on utilizing my knowledge of working as Club President, Divisional Executive Assistant, and implement my perspective as well with others, in order to have a more productive term. I also plan on hearing out your ideas on how we can work towards achieving active membership growth together. Here are some quick ways on increasing membership attendance during your meetings as we head into summer: -Contact your school’s leadership/ASB and ask if you can utilize their materials to make big huge posters that contain your meeting dates. -Send out personal invitations to anybody. Club member or not - it is crucial to promote Key Club in not only the beginning of the year, but the end of the year as well. -Have an end of the year potluck, or maybe have some cool treats such as ice cream. Teenagers love food!! -Start up raffle tickets. Those who bring someone who is not in Key Club gets two raffle tickets. Those who attend the meetings get one ticket. Prizes will be drawn at the end of the year. I hope that this short list will help you all out with increasing membership growth! If you have any questions or would like to know more ideas, please do not feel hesitate to contact me! I hope to get to meet as many of you as I can this upcoming year! and I am so excited to serve as your 2017-2018 District Project Chair. My home school is Skyline High School (GO SPARTS), the same as our lovely Division 28 Ltg, Heliqiong Sun. In terms of district project, I hope that together we will be able to reach our district project goal by the end of next March! The PNW has so much potential in fundraising and I wish to unlock your talents and truly strive to reach our goals. Key Club is a one of a kind opportunity that I have had the privilege of experiencing in my high school career and I hope that it will have an impact on all of you just as it has on me. Outside of Key Club, I lose sleep over my DECA competitions, try to not be lazy and attend my dance classes, attempt to debate at JSA meetings/events, spend all my money on buying school spirit gear, spend whatever is left on food with my friends and go to church on a regular basis. But all in all, fundraising can seem like a difficult or gigantic responsibility to take on, but I assure you that if we help and rely on each other, reaching our goals will seem simple! Please let me know if you need help or have any questions regarding our 2017-2018 district project. Or you can just contact me to talk, I don't bite (:!!

My name is Andy and I am absolutely elated to be the next Communications Chair at PNW Key Club! I am from Division 56 (Go Penguins!) and I am currently a Sophomore at Pullman High School. I joined Key Club as a Freshman with a goal broaden my social circle and serve the community in even greater ways. I can now say Key Club has fallen no short of the expectation I had. In fact, it has been even more life changing than I envisioned. Through Key Club, I have been able to strengthen my character, make life-long friendships, and give back to the community in a truly special way. There is no better package than what you can get out of being a part of this organization. This year, I hope to be able to deliver the same message I got from being in Key Club to everyone in the district. I will work to make sure all the clubs of the PNW, no matter how isolated or depleted they are, are able to be constantly updated and connected with the rest of the district. This will include sending out physical copies of resources to clubs, increasing involvement across all social media platforms, and creating more videos/recaps of major events for everyone to follow-up on. In my free time, I love to be outdoors, playing sports, getting involved with other school activities, and making jokes with friends. I can’t wait to work with you all and if you ever have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here’s to another fantastic year of service! In Love and Service, Andy He Communications Chair Pacific Northwest District Key Club International Email: communications@pnwkeyclub.org

My name is Vivia Zhu, and I’m looking forward to serving as your 2017-2018 Convention Chair! I’m currently a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School, and I’m a proud Division 33 Kraken. This past year, I’ve had the honor of being your Convention Aide and planning DCON 2017, and I’m so excited to continue and make DCON 2018 an even more enjoyable experience. Some of my goals for this year are to increase attendance (especially from smaller divisions), improve the registration and travel process, and create more opportunities for member involvement. Ever since I joined Key Club my freshman year, I’ve been amazed by the amount of spirit, compassion, and selflessness shown by each and every Key Clubber. That is why DCON is not only a celebration of the incredible work that you have put in to serve your community, but it is also an acknowledgment of your passion and dedication to Key Club. I am SO humbled to be a part of this fantastic organization and to serve all of you! If you ever have questions, ideas, or just want to say hello, feel free to contact me over email or social media. Can’t wait to see you all at DCON 2018 :) In Love and Service, Vivia Zhu Convention Chair Pacific Northwest District Key Club International (253) 266-0490 convention@pnwkeyclub.org
