Greetings From Your Lt.G Happy October!
I hope you are all enjoying the fall weather! If you haven’t caught the memo yet, we’re FALLing into dues season! This is just a reminder to get your dues submitted to your club officers! Reach out to your club officers if you have any questions or concerns about the dues submission process! October also means that one of my personal favorite service events is coming up: Trick or Treat for UNICEF! This is such an exciting time, because we get to dress up while fundraising to eliminate neonatal tetanus! I encourage all clubs to participate! Now that all clubs have had their first meeting, it’s time to get ready to meet your fellow penguins! Be on the lookout for a DCM announcement in the following months! On that note, please add anyone you know that is not already in our divisional Facebook group(@ pnw division 56 key club)! Talk to you all soon! In Love and Service,
Jane Tang Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International ltg56@pnwkeyclub.org (509) 432-8009 3

Club Updates is officially back in session and starting strong for the new school year. We recruited 12 new members at our first meeting! KCCP week was just last week and Orofino Key Club participated in school outreach day by holding a hat day (where people pay $1 to wear a hat). We raised $45, and this fundraising opportunity helped greatly to increase the awareness of KCCP at our high school. We also have a community service project coming up. We will be pumpkin decorating at Clearwater Health & Rehab on October 16th with the folks there to have fun and spice the place up! -Keelan Chen, Orofino President 6
Moscow has gained a lot of members. Fifty-four came to our second meeting. We are looking for ways both to continue to grow our club and to retain membership. For instance, at our last meeting, we threw an ice cream party! In regards to upcoming plans, we are planning on competing with Pullman during Trick or Treat for UNICEF to have people raise more money and ultimately help the cause even more. We also plan to host the blood drive in November!

The cold weather is brining us more service projects this year, and we're excited to get started! This month was kind of slow because we spent a hefty amount of time looking for an advisor for our club, and couldn’t do anything until we found one. At the end of the month, we finally found an advisor. Her name is Keeper Sharkey, and she's extremely eager to work with us and fight for our cause. We are planning on having our first meeting of the year the second week of October. It's kind of a late start, but with the passionate key clubbers we have in our club, we definitely won't fall behind! Stay chill,

The Beginning: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began 67 years ago as a way to help kids still affected by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have gone door to door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!" The annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids® — involving donations big and small — has helped to raise more than $175 million since 1950. 8
Great‌ So what? Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has empowered generations to make lasting change in their global community by collecting donations on Halloween to help save and protect children.
Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF since 1994, raising over $7 million. Combating iodine deficiency worldwide and HIV and AIDS in Kenya and Swaziland are just some of the programs Key Club has supported. Since 2011, Key Club’s Trick-or-Treat donations have funded The Eliminate Project, which supports the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus globally. UNICEF USA and Kiwanis International have been working to raise $110 million to provide more than 100 million women with lifesaving vaccines to protect them and their future newborns. Not only does this benefit mothers and their children, but it will also help pave the way for the delivery of other lifesaving services, such as clean water, nutrition and other vaccines in the future.
