MEET YOUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR High School: Glencoe High School Year: Sophomore # of years in Key Club: 2 #District Conventions attended: 2 Why I first Joined Key Club: I first joined Key Club because I heard about it from my cousins and older friends. At first, I thought they made keys, but then I realized it was a club dedicated to community service and I became obsessed. It was a great way to help out my community, and it was a lot of fun, so I decided to take up more in key club, and became my
Favorite Key Club Project: My favorite key club project was during the winter. It was an event sponsored by the Hillsboro Kiwanis where we got to mingle around, sing, and help make a pleasant Christmas experience for the adults with disabilities. It was a joy to see the smiles in their faces when we sang, and especially when Santa came out to deliver presents. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to help give them a joyful Christmas experience. Fun Facts 1) I’ve been to many countries and places around the world 2) I am obsessed with Key Club 3) I like listening to music by British Artists such as Ellie Golding, Emeli Sande, etc 4) I love learning new languages, and I hope to travel when I’m older 5) I LOVE community service I am so thrilled to have this opportunity to serve as our division’s Lieutenant Governor for the 2013 -2014 year. I will do my best this year to bring our great division together as a whole. Congratulations to all the newly elected officers who I know will do a fabulous job this year in their newly elected positions. I can’t wait to see what our division will accomplish, and I hope to see all of you soon! In love and service, Christon Senekham

DCON RECAP / HIGHLIGHTS
Division 65 made a large showing at DCON this year with about 68 attendees. Besides all the photo bombs, ice breakers, and craziness happening at DCON, it was a time for past and current board members as well as members to renew their love for service. I hope that each and everyone of you that attended not only take home the memories, but your newly found or rejuvenated love for service back home to your clubs. We a student led organization whose aim is to change the world for the better. We serve because we want to help those around us. The fun is just an added bonus to the great things we do.

HOPES AND GOALS FOR THIS YEAR Last year was a good year for Division 65. With Susie Than, our phenomenal and much loved IP Lieutenant Governor, we were able to unite our division more than ever before, bringing home the spirit stick from Portland Rally, and altogether, bringing together our division as a whole. For my term, I would like to keep our division close by not only having interdivision events, but also by increasing attendance at our Divisional Council Meetings, and creating volunteer opportunities that would unite all the schools within our division. I would also place emphasis on fundraising for our causes (UNICEF, March of Dimes, Children’s Miracle Network) along with this year’s District Project which has yet to be determined. Not only will the emphasis be placed on fundraising, it will also be placed on volunteering, as this is what Key Club is all about. As for Board Officers: I will be working more closely with you to make sure that our clubs are in good standing. Presidents and Vice Presidents should lead the club. Secretaries should be taking meeting minutes and reporting back to me and the district secretary how your club is doing. Treasurers should handle club finances and dues. Editors are responsible for newsletters and getting Key Club out the to rest of the school.
It is CRUCIAL that all officers do their job correctly because not only do your key clubbers depend on you, but the rest of Key Club International as a whole. **** As most of the old officers/DCM attendees know, I am currently in the process of planning our divisions dance to raise money for one of our causes. This dance is tentatively planned for the end of the school year at Century High School. Further planning will be done at the next DCM. (More details on the next page) Essentially, here is what we’re aiming to accomplish this year: Unite our division Charter a club at Jesuit High School Do more fundraising Ensure clubs are in good standing Hold the divisional dance Apply for and WIN awards at DCON 2014 Next year, will be the 65th annual District Convention, which means it’s Division 65’s year to prove ourselves to the other divisions. With hard work and cooperation on your parts, officers, we will create an even better division than we are now!

DANCE PLANNING / FUNDRAISING LOCATION: CENTURY HS (In negotiation)
THEME: “Service in the Sand (Not official)” casual/non-formal dance
As for the fundraisers which were previously due by April 1st, 2013, I know a lot of clubs haven’t gotten started, or have had trouble with getting their fundraiser started. Continue on fundraising for our causes and for the dance. So far, these clubs have fundraised:
ENTRANCE FEE: $5
Beaverton: $178 - Krispy Kremes donut sale
Once the location is finalized, we will decide on the DJ, decorations and food & drink and other recreations. Committees will be created for the dance, and it will happen.
Century: $100 - Happy Panda off 185th
DATE/TIME: June 14th, 2013 8-11pm
Glencoe: $192.72 - Burgerville on Cornell Rd. Westview: $83 - Pizza Schmizza on 185th
Our main objective is to raise as much money as possible to donate to one of our causes in a way that involves everyone in a fun and inclusive way. The dance will be open to all high school students from the schools in the division, or to other key clubbers from other divisions that want to join in on the fun. PS: Since this is of course, a key club sponsored & related event, there will be NO tolerance for drugs/alcohol or foul behavior. The event will be insured and liabilities, if any will be covered through our lovely Kiwanis. THIS EVENT WILL HAPPEN. THERE WILL BE NO BACKING DOWN FROM THIS.
The money we fundraise will go towards renting out the venue for the dance, paying the DJ, decorations and other recreations at the dance. The money generated from the dance will be counted up and written in check to the cause of our choice. *** The original inspiration of this dance was inspired from the Seattle Divisions, which had a winter masquerade party to raise money for PROJECT:EDUCATE. They fundraised over $1000 dollars to help rebuild a library and supply kids with school supplies in a matter of 3 hours.
