LETTER FROM YOUR LTG RAIN DROP! DROP TOP! TURTLE SQUAD SPIRIT DON’T STOP, STOP! As our terms come to an end, make sure your service, hard work, and spirit doesn’t stop! This Saturday is going to be the 2017-2018 Division 65 East Lieutenant Governor Election Rally. As the days get closer, I get very emotional, teary almost. 65 East has come so far since I was elected. All your hard work is noted and I am so proud to see your efforts! After electing the 65 East Incoming Lieutenant Governor (my innie), I will be training them in EVERYTHING. All DCMs, newsletters, flyers, basically anything that would usually be produced by me, will be produced by me and my innie. I hope that you all support them throughout their term, as they will be supporting you during the remainder of your term! Putting that aside, I’m so excited to announce that our division will be selling crewnecks in order to support the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program! They are $25 and I hope to sell at least 50 crewnecks! The ABSOLUTE last day to order a crewneck is February 17th. More information can be found on page 14! Well, that’s all I have to say for this LtG letter! I hope you all enjoy the snow and stay safe! Sit back and relax and enjoy this month’s issue of the turtle monthly! In Love and Service,

Lieutenant Governor of Division 65 East Pacific Northwest District | Key Club International p: (503) 935-6154 | e: d65e.kayedelachica@gmail.com

DIVISIONAL BOARD JULIA DAYTON EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Hi, turtles! I am so happy to welcome you all to 2017, a new year of service and opportunity. I had such a great time seeing those of you who came to the December DCM, and I would like to give a huge shout-out to all of you who brought things for Turtle Toys! With your help, we were able to collect over 100 toys for kids at Doernbecher's! That also means that you guys were able to collect enough toys to redeem all of the outlined prizes, so look out for pictures of Mark and Sanrita rocking the makeup that teams were able to put on them during the DCM, as well as us doing the Key Club cheer at the mall! Once again, I would like to wish you all the best of luck in this upcoming school year, and I hope that this year is filled with happiness, love, and, of course, service :)

ROSIE NGUYEN FUNDRAISING CHAIR

Hey Turtles! Welcome to 2017!! Winter break has ended, much to the sorrow of everyone. I'm just hoping for more snow days as finals approach. Last DCM was so amazing, reaching over 140 wrapped toys for KCCP! As a result of at least 25 toys, Mark and Sanrita had their makeup done by some of the DCM attendees. The DLT will be doing more punishments in the future, so be on the lookout for those!

DIVISIONAL BOARD MARK HUYNH SPIRIT COORDINATOR

Happy New Year! Yet another great year of service ahead of us! We're gonna start it out strong with electing our new LTG this month so be sure to attend that if you can. It's good experience for anyone wanting to run for oďŹƒce. Also we have reached our goal of 100+ toys, so me and Sanrita will be punished accordingly. If you attended the last DCM you know how our first punishment went... There's a lot in store for us this year including DCON, so your clubs should be handing the forms out soon! Hope you guys had a good break and good luck with finals!

SANRITA UNG SPIRIT COORDINATOR

Hey turtles! I hope you guys are doing good in school and volunteering! DCON is in less than three months which is exciting. It might seem like we have a long way to go but time really flies by. The December DCM was turtle-ly fun and I'm glad that a lot of new faces decided to join us. All these snow days made time for me to reflect on my term being spirit coordinator because the election rally for a new ltg is right around the corner and I think we're all going to miss Kaye. Even though my term is not over yet, my final goals for DCON is for us to win the spirit stick and make sure that everyone had an unforgettable experience. Stay well turtle!

KRISTEN CORPUZ HISTORIAN

Hey turtles! Hope you all have enjoyed your winter break with some snow days! Happy 2017 to all of you, by the way. I'm happy to hear that we have donated over 150+ toys, pat yourself on the back, good job turtles!! Since we donated a lot of toys, it also means to look forward for some of the various punishments your LtG and DLT members will do soon. (Oh dear..) Since it's the new year, it also means electing your 2017-2018 Lieutenant Governor, it's going to intense but really looking forward for it. Excited to attend DCON, I'm sure am!! We have 85 days left till the District Convention, hope to see you all there! Keep on the look out for turtles of the month for this month, who knows it will be you!! See you all there to the Division 65 East Election Rally on the 14th by the way~

Final Update TURTLE TOYS: DECEMBER DCM This year was the start of Division 65 East’s very first toy drive. It was a collaboration with KCCH, our sponsoring Kiwanis club. The toy drive started November 14th and ended December 19th. Despite our goal being 100 toys, we had a total of 152 toys donated! All the toys were wrapped at the December DCM. We also made cards for the patients as well! It was a fun DCM and had a great atmosphere for bonding. All members had the opportunity to mingle and befriend each other. As an LtG, It really warmed my heart by seeing everyone work together and get to know one another!

152 TOYS DONATED

TURTLE TOYS: DELIVERY DAY The toys were delivered on December 21st. Alongside several officers, we piled up in into my mini van and ventured off to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Upon arrival, we met David Newton, a current board member of the Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program (KDCCP). There, we got the opportunity to learn about the Kiwanis Children ‘s Cancer Program (KCCP) and Doernbecher’s Day. David Newton hope to increase the involvement of Portland Area members in the program and hope to raise awareness in our communities.
