Lt. Governor’s Greeting Portland Area Rally Recap Int’l Convention Recap International Board Message from Kevin Zhang Children’s Miracle Network Key Leader What’s Poppin’ in PNW Kiwanis Family The ELIMINATE Project Seattle Rally July DCM Super Spots Scoreboard Contact Information Social Media

It’s hard to believe that the first month of summer has already passed by us. My hope is that, in between hanging out with friends, going on trips, procrastinating on summer homework, or other summer fun, you all have fit service into your summer days. Remember, just because school is out does not mean that service has to end! I have just returned from Anaheim, California after attending International Convention. At convention, I learned about Key Club’s organization, service partners, and new leadership skills. I met people from all around the world who share a passion for service, proving that Key Club truly is an international organization. You can read more about ICON on page 8. Coming home with new knowledge, I want to invite all the officers to Officer Training. The date is still being figured out, so I will let you all know as soon as I find out. All Key Club members, I want to invite you all to the DCM, which will be held on the same date. It will surely be a great time to get together during this busy summer, so I hope to see you all there! One last exciting bit of news from ICON. Former Lieutenant Governor of our Pacific Northwest District, Kevin Zhang, ran for the position of International Vice President. Through the intense process of caucusing and House of Delegates and anxiety that came with waiting for results, the Pacific Northwest District was proud and extremely happy to find out that Kevin Zhang won the position of International Vice President. Amazing work, Kevin! We know we will do an amazing job! With all that said, I hope you all continue to serve your homes, schools, and communities. Until I see you next, take care, Division 66!

Yours In Caring Service,

Brian Le 2014-2015 Lieutenant Governor of Division 66

“Firework” by Katy Perry Keeping with the Forth of July theme, I chose “Firework” by Katy Perry as this month’s song. I truly believe that each and everyone of you have the ability in you to do something absolutely amazing.

'Cause, baby, you're a firework Come on, show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah" As you shoot across the sky

All it takes is a little spark to ignite you. Find what it is that sparks you to serve your home, school, and community. If you can do that, I know that you’ll become an unstoppable force. Show the world what you’re made of!

On Saturday, June 21st, 22 Key Clubbers from Division 66 joined over 150 Key Clubbers from around the Portland Area region for Portland Area Rally 2014: Superheroes of Service. For one day, these members chanted cheers, took selfies, met new friends, learned more about service, and had lots of fun! From a fun photo booth to McChickens served at lunch, the day at Portland Area Rally was a blast. With a lot of efforts set up to help the ELIMINATE Project, a $1,017.18 profit was made. Good job, Key Clubbers! Hope you all had an amazing time!

On June 30th, 2014, 40 Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers departed from SeaTac Airport to fly to Anaheim, California for ICON 2014. The first two days, Key Clubbers enjoyed Disneyland and California Adventure parks, but the fun was yet to start. From July 2nd to July 6th, they joined 1700 Key Clubbers from around the entire world to talk about Key Club, learn about service, become inspired to help the community, and unify as one international organization.

During convention, Key Clubbers were hard at work, learning about service in workshops, hearing about candidates during caucusing, and voting in the House of Delegates. PNW Key Clubbers cheered at all the sessions, proving that they were the most spirited members of Key Club International. In between it all, countless pictures were taken and new friends were made. If you missed on ICON this year, ICON 2015 will be held in Indianapolis to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Kiwanis International.

a word from

INTERNATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT

& PACIFIC NORTHWEST’S VERY OWN

Hello Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers!

Over this past week, I along with 39 other PNW Key Clubbers and six Kiwanis chaperones had the opportunity to attend the 71st annual International Convention in the vibrant city of Anaheim, California. While there, we had the opportunity to attend educational workshops, meet Key Clubbers from across the world, and elect the 2014-2015 Key Club International Board. I am truly humbled and honored to announce that I was chosen out of a field of four other highly qualified candidates to be your next International Vice President. My biggest support throughout the entire journey, from the moment I decided to run until my name was announced on stage, was the entire Pacific Northwest District. So let me take this time to thank every single one of you- all 13,000+ members. It was your support that got me through not only ICON week but the months leading up to it. Thank you to everyone that messaged be “good luck” and to all of those that congratulated me afterwards. Even though many of you did not attend ICON 2014, I still felt as if all of you were alongside me. I look forward to personally thanking many of you as I travel to some of the upcoming area rallies. To all the graduating seniors, even though I will not have the opportunity to serve you for this upcoming year, I hope that many of you will decide to join Circle K in college and eventually Kiwanis. Once again, THANK YOU to the mighty Pacific Northwest District! I look forward to yet another fantastic year of service, friendship, and growth not only for Key Club International but also for our district!

In Service,

Kevin Zhang Kevin Zhang Key Club International Vice President zhangkevin2015@gmail.com

& officer training

It’s time to prepare for the new school year! Officers: come and get trained for your positions and learn some tips and advice to better your club. You will work with others with the same position as you and brainstorm ideas together. Your journey as a Key Club Officer will truly pay off, but first, you all need the proper knowledge and skills to be successful. I will lay the groundwork for you all, and I am sure that you all will take off from there and lead your clubs to do amazing things.

The DCM will take place right after the training. All members are welcome to come. This will be a BBQ with the Kiwanians! Bring chips, desserts, and other utensils! Hamburgers will be provided. This will be a nice social time to meet members from other clubs. Hope to see you there!
