Hello Division 66! We had a great start into the summer of service thanks to helpful volunteers like you! I hope your school year was a great one filled with lots of memories and service activities. One of the biggest projects this month is the Divisional Yard Sale which was a great success thanks to those who volunteered under the sun and of course, Mrs. Parsons for reaching out to us. I would like to highlight several pages in my newsletter: Key Leader, ICON, and PORTLAND RALLY! These are some of the biggest past and upcoming events that you should look out for.

I’ll keep this short and sweet, please take your time to look over the newsletter because I will cover many important events! Thank you Giraffes! Yours in Caring Service, Bailey Chen 2015-2016 Lieutenant Governor or Division 66

It's July guys! Time flies when you're roasting in the sun. It was great playing games at the June DCM. Thank you guys for helping us make signs for the yard sale. We raised so much money for two great causes: ELIMINATE and the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp for handicap children. Thank you guys who helped out at the yard sale even in that heat! 7/11 means the Portland Rally. I'm so excited to meet new people and I can't wait to see you there! Bring a friend who isn't in Key Club to introduce them to this wonderful club. See you there!

During the June DCM, we started off making posters for the Divisional Yard Sale. Then we played some icebreakers and had some friendly competition (Congratulations Team 1!). We had two lovely speakers, Edward Yan and Emilee Huey, speak about CKI. Thank you to both Edward and Emily, along with Division 62 and the Kiwanians for attending the June DCM! Of course, special thanks to those who brought food!

MEMBERS SPOTLIGHT “He really has grown over the years of helping with Key Club. He does not need to be told when to help. When we post an event boom he is there. He is a lot of help to us and this is why we chose him as Centennial Key Club's first ever Member of the Year.”

“Phet for helping prepare for the yard sale she was a big help while we searched through the stuff for the yard sale” “Cloey I feel like has done a tremendous job lately. She's been picking up slack when needed and been keeping Momo and myself on track which I really appreciate.”

“the infamous, one and only, past Lt. Governor. Although he may not have originally been from Reynolds, at June's DCM he CHOSE to represent a Reynolds High School Key Club member and it warmed my heart. It would warm anybody's heart. He's graduated already and he still shows up to the DCMs and Key Club events. He's almost too dedicated. He's such a cool bean.”

DIVISIONAL YARD SALE We hosted a Divisional Yard Sale which all proceeds went to either Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp or The ELIMINATE Project, both great causes. During the yard sale, we helped determine prices, organize areas, answer questions, carry boxes, all under the hot weather. Thank you guys so much! GREAT JOB!

I want to especially thank Mrs. Parsons for doing a lot of work before, during, and after the Yard Sale! Rachel Coyne and Brian Nguyen for staying for most of the time!

WE RAISED

$818.10 for ELIMINATE $1784.90 for MHKC $2603.00 TOTAL!

“The experience you get at ICON is almost like a DCON on steroids. The very first day we were running around "moosing" people at the meet and greet to show them some PNW love. While we had a lot of similar things like a recognition session, and talent show we had the opportunity to share 2 sessions with the whole Kiwanis Family. We elected our new International Board and were gladly known as the room that grilled candidates during caucusing. We learned about how far a simple hug can go from Tim, and saw Maria pledge 3 million dollars to the Eliminate project. It was amazing to see the scope of Kiwanis International and to be surrounded by so many adults that believed in what Key Club is doing. ICON was a friendly reminder that as a Kiwanis Family we are filled with servant leaders ready to change the world.”- Andrea Diep, Division 33 “The 2015 Key Club International Convention celebrated the 90th birthday of Key Club and the 100th birthday of Kiwanis, and was amazing. ICON is similar to DCON in that it was full of interesting and fun workshops, as well as amazing people, but different in many ways. First, it is smaller than PNW DCON, but you can meet people from even farther away. Did you know that PNW and Eastern Canada are besties? Second, International House of Delegates is far more intense compared to DCON’s HoD, a fact that this year’s HoD Committee is working to change. This years HoD also passed some amendments that affect the club District levels, and which I will explain at the July DCM. And third, The Pacific Northwest District is the best District around!”- Stuart Sardo, Division 44 “International Convention 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana was a blast! This year, the celebration of 100 years of Kiwanis and 90 years of Key Club opened up my eyes to this great organization as a whole. Seeing all parts of K-Family come together as a whole made me realize how truly thankful I am to be part of this organization. Staring off with the meet and greet to the opening session, the long hours of House of Delegate and Caucusing, Kiwanis celebration baseball game, closing session, and to the final Hello goodbye Concert, it was a great opportunity to meet Key Clubbers and Kiwanis members around the world. I will never forget the new friendships I made with the people I met. Electing the new Key Club International Board for next year was also an opportunity I will never forget. It was amazing to see how truly passionate and service minded people were for this organization. I laughed, smiled, learned, and made many memories that I won’t forget. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have gone to International Convention this year and represent Pacific Northwest (BEST)!”- Sharon Lee, Division 38
