KEY CLUB PLEDGE I pledge on my honor to uphold the objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school, and community; to serve my nation and God; and to combat all forces, which tend to undermine these institutions. “The only people who ever get anyplace interesting are the people who get lost.” — The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail.
Lieutenant Governor Letter DEAR 3W, I’ll probably start crying writing this because I’m so blessed to be able to work with amazing people in an amazing division. Firstly, I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving break and that your upcoming Christmas break is EVEN BETTER! I’ve been spending a lot of time looking through where our division can meet for divisional council meetings and trying to find a good location that can fulfill all our needs. I apologize for having to put off our DCMs so many times, but I don’t want to always meet at a park. Sometimes there are things that need to be discussed that just really could use the help of a powerpoint to explain some things further. With that being said, we will be having our Divisional Election Conference to elect next year’s Lieutenant Governor in January. If things would out, we’ll be at a great location that’s central for us all. If not, we may have to resort to using a room at one of the Lonestar Branches in order to accomplish all our tasks. Secondly, I would like to thank everyone who’s been doing so much to participate in volunteering with UNICEF, March of Dimes, and Children’s Miracle Network. I especially urge you to participate in our Divisonal Project and to keep records of all the times you volunteer and support local organizations. Community building is a crucial part of our organization and a niche that our clubs fill incredibly well. I’m so proud of everyone you guys have been doing and proud of the way you have interacting with each other as well. Keep up the hard work!
DISTRICT UPDATES If your dues are not received by November 30th, then they are considered late! If you know your club dues will be late, then be aware that the late deadline is December 1st. If you have not already paid your dues, MAKE SURE YOU PAY THEM OR YOUR CLUB’S STATUS WILL BE SUSPENDED. This year we also have a new opportunity: club officers can apply to co-teach the officer training forums with their respective staff officers. This will be an awesome, collaborative effort across our states to bring new ideas to our officer trainings at DCON. Those officers selected will meet via phone or video chat throughout their term, along with their staff officer, to prepare for the best forums we’ve seen to date! The application deadline is December 6. If you have any questions, feel free to email Convention Liaison, Andrew Loh, at CL@tokeyclub.com.
To eliminate MNT from the Earth, 129 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take $110 million—and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family. This year (2014-2015), our Texas-Oklahoma goal is to raise $53,000 dollars for this project!
