KEY CLUB PLEDGE I pledge on my honor to uphold the objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school, and community; to serve my nation and God; and to combat all forces, which tend to undermine these institutions. “I want movement, not a calm course of existence. I want excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. I feel in myself a superabundance of energy which finds no outlet in our quiet life.” –Leo Tolstoy

Lieutenant Governor Letter DEAR 3W, Gosh we have had such an incredible year up and I can’t believe we are already in the final quarter of the Key Club year. I hope you’re all excited for DCON, because it’s going to be a weekend you’ll remember for the rest of your life! I have only three things that I would like to talk about this month. 1. Our division as well as other clubs from Division 3 are gonna meet up again on February 14th from 1pm-4pm at the Houston Food bank to volunteer. This goes along with our Divisional Project which is to volunteer with and through local charities and organizations. 2. Our Divisional Election Conference is going to be December 31st at 12pm at the Lonestar Cypress Center. Up to four voting delegates may be brought from each club and they will decide who is the 2015-2016 Lieutenant Governor of Division 3W. 3. I am DYING for us to all get together and do some service projects together. So, sometimes in March I would like us to all get together to make plarn, cards, dog toys, ect. Because I say so. Let me know if you have any other things you’d like to do and we will do them yes. But in other news, I love you guys lots. Thx for bein swaggie 4ever.

DISTRICT UPDATES Happy New Year! Welcome to 2015! The Task Of The Month for the month of Janurary is: What motivates you? Write a paragraph about why you joined Key Club and what motivates you to serve others. Hey, Texas-Oklahoma Key Clubbers! Here are your January Tex-O-Key suggested article prompts: 1. What was your favorite winter service project? Why was it your favorite, and what did you learn? 2. How will you get members excited for and engaged in the ELIMINATE Project? What service projects and/or fundraisers will you do in support of ELIMINATE? 3. What does Key Club mean to you and why? 4. What personal attributes has Key Club helped you develop and how? Hey T-O Key Clubbers! The February/March Tex-O-Key Theme is DCON or Service Adventure! Email me appropriate fun facts and/or jokes/riddle relating to this theme for extra 5 points if it is published in the Tex-O-Key. Always send me any photos following the photo criteria for 1 point per photo published in the Tex-O-Key. Please participate in the Governors Project this year (Children’s Miracle Network) and the District Project (ELIMINATE)! Don’t forget – the Governor’s Project Completion form and District Project Completion form is due on March 6th, 2014.

March for Babies - Houston 2014 Date: Sunday, April 27, 2014 Time: 9:00AM Registration Time: 8:00AM University of Houston Cullen @ Elgin Houston, TX 77004 We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. Join our event and walk with us to raise money for babies right here in our community!

Children's Miracle Network is a organization that raises funds and awareness for Children's Hospitals. We can help by raising funds and participating in service projects. This flyer provides information about recommended projects all Key Clubbers can do.

Januarys Top Three Projects o Karaoke Night - Host a karaoke night in your community. For this you need of corse, a karaoke machine and a fun, energetic host is also a must! Be sure to broadcast this event to your community and everyone in your school. You can charge admission and key clubbers can also sell snacks and drinks for an additional fee. Be sure to broadcast what the money raised goes to. This project should take about a month or two to plan. o Mr. and Mrs. Key Club - Have a pageant for both boys and girls where they are competing for the title of Mr. and Mrs. Key Club! Have these key clubbers show off their best pick up lines, show their talents and many other things that they can do to try to win people’s votes! To get money you can charge for general admission and sell snacks and drinks, you could even charge for a voting ballet. Make sure you have a good number of guys and girls enter to compete that way people have a show to watch! This takes about a month or two to plan. This project can cost very little to being pretty price. just depends how much you spend on decorations. o Joke-a-thon - Get a few funny people from either your club or school to put on a comedy show. Charge general admission and also sell drinks and snacks. If the jokes are really bad sell rotten tomatoes for a set amount of money like 2 dollars per tomato. Make sure you get this all approved and broadcast the event. You don’t want to spend all this time planning the event and only have 2 people show up due to lack of knowledge of the event. This project should take a month or two to plan. Be sure to find a good amount of people to make jokes and keep the show moving.
