Laxmi Ganesh Chowki
Among the million gods worshipped in India, Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesh are two of the most worshipped gods among the Hindus. The relation between Lord Ganesh and Goddess Laxmi has three definitions based on the three sections of devotees. According to Shaivites, Goddess Parvati is the sister of Lord Vishnu and so, Goddess Laxmi stands to be the aunt of Ganesh. According to Shakthites, Parvati being the mother of all Goddess Laxmi is his aunt. And according to the Vaishnavites, Lord Vishnu gave rise to Lord Brahma and eventually Lord Vishnu gave rise to Lord Shiv and so, Goddess Laxmi stands to be the grandmother of Lord Ganesh. Whatever the case may be, an idol of Laxmi and Ganesh on Chowki is like alchemy, consisting of both “the Goddess of Wealth” and “the God who fulfils all the desires of devotees”. An idol of Laxmi and Ganesh can be found made of metal or stone ware or fibers. They can also be found in different sizes.
