he 62nd Directors Guild of America Awards were meant to be a celebration of Hollywood’s elite filmmakers, but it’s a safe bet that many eyes at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Jan. 30 were fixed not on the honorees but on two members of the illustrious audience — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In recent weeks, the superstar couple have been plagued by rumors that their five-year relationship is finished — or at least verging on collapse. But on this evening, Angie, gorgeous in a shoulder-baring green Elie Saab gown, and Brad, dapper in a black silk-and-linen Tom Ford suit, appeared to be the very picture of romantic bliss. “They were affectionate toward each other, smiling and laughing all night,” says a source at the DGAs, where Brad’s Inglourious Basterds director Quentin Tarantino was among the nominees. “Brad was very calm and mellow and gave a great, funny speech — he had everyone on the floor with his imitation of Quentin. He and Angie seemed very happy.”
FAKING IT IN PUBLIC Or so they would have us believe. According to Ian Halperin, author of Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the smiles and the high-profile date night was a well-

he’s standing by her man — for now. Despite the revelation of his countless affairs beginning last November — and her meeting with top divorce attorneys soon thereafter — Elin Nordegren has chosen to stick by Tiger Woods as he battles his demons at a rehab clinic for sexual addiction. According to a friend, after the golf champ, 34, checked into the Hattiesburg, Miss., Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services facility in late December, the 29-year-old Elin realized his illness is for real. “She sees she can’t leave him now,” the friend tells OK!. “She’s a big part of his potential recovery.”
INSIDE THE CLINIC Tiger’s strict six-week program — called the “Gentle Path” — consists of intense therapy sessions, during which he’ll be forced to confront the core problem: his issues with intimacy. “A lot of it has to
do with Tiger and [his mother] Tida’s early relationship; she was unsympathetic,” explains the friend. “Then Tiger found a wife who was the opposite — a professional nanny, for God’s sake! — but it was too late. He wasn’t able to get what he needed.”
HOW LONG DID IT LAST?
understanding his pain To better grasp Tiger’s compulsion — and to deal with her own hurt — Elin has endured three-hour-long sessions with experts at the clinic as often as three times a day. “She tells me she’s learned the sex was a way to ease his anxiety, like having a drink,” says the friend, who also suspects Tiger used sleeping pills and prescription pain meds to the same end. “I think his dependence on Ambien and Vicodin was worse than anyone knew,” the pal says. But it was the sex that was his drug of choice. “He needed more and more.”

Tiger still loves his wife, says the friend, who insists reports that she is sticking with him for the kids’ sake — Charlie, 2, and Sam, 10 months — are false. “Tiger’s never been involved in raising them,” says the friend. But that could change if Tiger reunites with his family in mid-February and resumes his life, which could include a golf comeback in the spring. As for a marital comeback, Dr. Bonnie Eaker Weil, a therapist and author of Make Up, Don’t Break Up, who has not treated Tiger, says sex addiction is “curable.” But even if Tiger is able to overcome this, Elin’s pain might prove too much. “She’s there for him now, supporting him for a full recovery, but he’s lied to her for years,” says the friend. “That kind of wound doesn’t heal in a few weeks.” OK!
