Darwen Town Council
It’s that time of year again where Darwen Live is upon us. This year has been a difficult one as funding for the festival was confirmed late and many of the committee members have moved on to new projects. We need more volunteers in order to make this event a success so please do grab one of us at the main stage over the weekend to show interest. Darwen Live 2016 was our best attended ever and two scorching hot days certainly helped. It is estimated that across the weekend over 30,000 people attend the festival and come into the town. This can only be good for Darwen and its economy. For the last few years there have been no arrests directly related to the festival and we would like to thank you for this. Long may it continue. We are very proud of the range of genres and acts that appear across the weekend in all of the venues. Some Local, some National and some International performers are appearing so please check some of them out. Even if you’ve never heard of them before, they may surprise you! Over the last few years some of the performing acts have gone on to be signed to major labels and win awards for their song writing so we like to think we have chosen the best of over 600 applications. Darwen Live is funded primarily by Darwen Town Council and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council which allows us to make this event completely free. In fact it’s the largest free to attend festival in the UK!! As always t-shirts are available next to the main stage and some acts will also be selling merchandise across the weekend. Thank you to everybody involved in making this years event happen and hopefully we’ll see you all next year DARWEN LIVE 2017 COMMITTEE (All 3 of us!!)
