NOTE: There are two sources of water where the population of Boucan Patriot can drink from, the "Rivière Valoir" and "Lapady". According to local residents, it takes 90 minutes of walking to and fro to get the water. However, the two sources are dry during each drought period that can last between four and six months. In case of drought, the town will drink from "Guillette" in the third section of Vieille Hatte. It is nearest to Boucan Patriot estimated to be 300 minutes of walk round trip.

In comparison, there is no way to know the numbers of children of a certain age who do not go to school. Pastor Olissaint and other citizens of the area believe that there are a very large number of children who are not getting an education.

region of Guinodee. The population has approximately 21,880 people, all living with two shallow water wells which are contaminated and making people sick. Especially the children and the elderly. Our mobile clinics that are organized within the village, have revealed tremendous health problems caused by lack of water or contamination. The most pressing matter is to drill a well to secure safe, clean drinking water.
