In a project about wind, I of course felt it necessary to know where it was going. So I decided to create this map of the wind direction and speed through specific points in the North Pacific. I found the data to make this map from aviation charts. But that did not give me wind data on a scale close enough to my site in Northern California. My next stage was documenting wind patterns in specifically Marin. The weather channel’s website was perfect for that. For two weeks, I recorded the wind speed and direction onto a spreadsheet and created graphs of the wind vectors.
MECHANIZED METROPOLISM
UNDERGRADUATE THESIS ROME-CORVIALE. BERKELEY 08 This thesis studio was based on the study of a one kilometer long, six story tall high density housing unit in Rome, Italy. My project was about the system for allocation of living space, in this once socialist building, now moving towards a technologically advanced, capitalist Europe.
For me it seems only natural that the architecture of circuit boards meets the architecture of buildings. With the potential provided by robotics, they can speak back to a building’s occupant in a very unique way. The spatial quality of one of the units in the Robotic Corviale has the ability to optimize the size and the placement of the walls to whatever the occupant decides. This means that a bedroom would expand its walls the second somebody walks inside. Unnecessary walls disappear and Desired walls materialize with the response of a computer. The concept of inside and out, public and private literally spills into each other with motors and solenoids splitting the exterior walls. The functions of this building are only limited by the imagination of its residents.

B O A T H O U S E - N O R T H B E A C H S A N _ F R A N C I S C O For the design of this boat house, I studied the movement of a rower’s clothing as it reacts to different forces. From those initial studies, I came upon t spaces, all reacting to the program in the same manner of my original site analysis and rowing studies. With the freedom allowed me from the concept studies and by refining these nuances, I ended up with many unintentional effects. -

THE WILDERNESS CITY W/ IF ARCHITECTURE, UC BERKELEY IN 2008, I PARTICIPATED IN A COMPETITION WITH A TEAM OF PROFESSORS AND STUDENTS AT BERKELEY TO DESIGN THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO 100 YEARS IN THE FUTURE, 2108. WE IMAGINED A CITY COMPLETELY RE-BUILT TO CONDENSE THE BAY AREA’S COMPLIMENT OF URBAN SPRAWL INTO STRINGS OF SUPER-STRUCTURES AND AIRBORNE PLATFORMS WHILE RETURNING THE LAND TO NATURE. ALL THE FUNCTIONSOF CITY, HOUSING, BUISNESS AND CIVIC SCPACES WOULD BE CONTAINED WITHIN THESE 2000 FOOT TALL SKYSCRAPERS WITH A FOOTPRINT SMALL ENOUGH TO ALLOW FOR THE RESTORATION OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA’S LONG LOST WILDERNESS.
