Darton, Longman and Todd is an internationally-respected publisher of brave, ground-breaking, independent books and eBooks on matters of the heart, mind and soul that meet the needs and interests of ordinary people. We publish a wide-ranging list of books that include biography, spirituality, theology, wellbeing, contemporary issues, fiction and humour, and we also publish the Jerusalem Bible (JB), and its revised and updated successor, the New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) – two of the most clear, accurate and distinguished modern English translations of the Bible. This year we launch the Revised New Jerusalem Bible (RNJB) which updates the NJB and fulfils the pressing need for a lucid Bible translation with clear explanatory notes for use in public and private reading, for instruction and for the liturgy. Our books are written by, and for, people of all faiths and none. We believe that spirituality and faith are important to all people, of all backgrounds, and that the wisdom of any one culture or tradition can inform and nourish another. All our books are intended to help people – to better understand themselves, to better understand God, faith and religion, and to better understand our relationships with other people. We aim to be creative, sometimes provocative, so our books are most likely to be appreciated by people who like to engage and be challenged. RNJB: New Testament and Psalms Revised New Jerusalem Bible Dom Henry Wansbrough OSB FEBRUARY 2018 |WORLD ex US/CAN 978 0 232 53361 3 Paperback |768 pp |198 x 137 mm Price: £12.99 (£9.99 first three months) The Revised New Jerusalem Bible presents anew the scholarship, character and clarity of the 1966 Jerusalem Bible (the first modern English version) and the 1985 New Jerusalem Bible. It is a Bible that prioritises accuracy of translation and richness of tone, written that ‘the message might be fully proclaimed’ (2 Ti 4:17). This year we presents first, the full New Testament and the Psalms, and a comprehensive set of study notes, cross-references and book introductions; second, in the autumn, the full version of the Revised New Jerusalem Bible as a Study Edition. RNJB: Study Bible. Revised New Jerusalem Bible Dom Henry Wansbrough OSB 978 0 232 53362 0 Paperback |1488 pp |198 x 137 mm Price: £29.99 ‘Clear read’ style: The biblical scriptures were written to be

proclaimed, so the RNJB uses linguistic style and speech patterns best suited for being read out loud.

Formal equivalence: The language, concepts and imagery of

the original scriptures are presented more accurately by the RNJB than the colloquial approach of many other modern translations.

Gender inclusion: The message of the Bible is for all people, so care has been taken to avoid traditional male bias of the English language, while remaining faithful to the meaning of the original scriptures.

Revised Grail Psalter: The book of Psalms is based on the text of the 2010 translation of The Revised Grail Psalms.

Comprehensive study notes. The notes, cross-references and book introductions of the JB and NJB are replaced in the RNJB by new materials which reflect the fruit of the most up-to-date and ecumenical scholarship.

The RNJB has been prepared and edited by Dom Henry Wansbrough OSB, previously General Editor of the New Jerusalem Bible.

Things That Make For Peace A Christian peacemaker in a world of war Peter B. Price JANUARY 2018 |WORLD 978 0 232 53346 0 Paperback |256 pp |216 x 135 mm Price: £12.99 Drawing on the experiences and lessons of over forty years working on the frontline of reconciliation and peace building, in Northern Ireland, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, Peter B. Price explores what it means to respond to the biblical call to ‘seek peace … and pursue it’ (Psalm 34:14). What is required of Christians today in the light of the increasing number of wars, insurgencies, holocausts and genocide, is a deeper understanding of what true peacemaking costs, and an answer to the question: ‘Can Christianity continue to sanction war?’ Peter B. Price is an author and broadcaster, and Chair of the Trustees of Conciliation Resources, a peace-building NGO working in many conflict areas around the world.
