Moonee Valley Activity Centre (MPAC) is 6.5 km north-west of Melbourne CBD, located in the City of Moonee Valley. The MPAC contains a strong road connection and public transport links to the broader Metropolitan Melbourne which consists of a train station, two separate tram routes and a bus terminal along the junction.

However, the heavy reliance of private vehicles still prevails within the activity centre. This has resulted to several issues such as congestion along the JUNCTION, discouraging pedestrian activity as well as fragmenting the neighbourhood into two.

Distance, Diversity and Design will be used as a criteria to assess the performance of MPAC. The analysis will help inform the proposed design actions for REIMAGINING the JUNCTION to achieve a better transit oriented development for MPAC.

The evaluation of MPAC using these criteria (i.e Distance, Diversity, Design) shows the current qualities of high permeability of street networks, good mix of land uses and high potential usage of the junction by pedestrian. However, the existing quality and accessibility of the junction is weak and poorly designed.
