OUR STORY Originally from Bordeaux, Michel Rolland is widely recognized and praised for his master blending skill. He has a unique ability to taste and quickly distinguish which component wines will blend well together. Having worked with over 150 wineries across 14 countries, Michel is now the most famous and well-respected consulting winemaker in the world. Michel first traveled to Argentina in 1988. He immediately fell in love with the country’s beautiful landscape, atmosphere, culture and, most importantly, its fantastic wine growing potential. In his frequent return trips, Michel became increasingly determined to find the perfect location to plant vines of his own. In 1999, he discovered a special plot of land located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the Uco Valley. Intrigued by its unique combination of high altitude, well drained soils, optimal aspect and dry climate, Michel was certain this land would be optimal for growing a variety of Bordeaux grapes, particularly Malbec.
THE CLOS DE LOS SIETE FAMILY Michel soon learned that the owner of this newly discovered land was reluctant to break up the plot and was only willing to sell the site in its entirety. Michel decided to partner with six other French families back home in Bordeaux to purchase the land in full. Together, Michel and friends created the vineyard of seven, Clos de los Siete. Four of these seven original families remain involved in the C7 winemaking process today. The four individual wineries, Monteviejo, Cuvelier Los Andes, DiamAndes and Bodega Rolland, each contribute grapes from their respective plots of land to the Clos de los Siete blend.

THE UCO VALLEY The Uco Valley is located sixty miles south of Mendoza, which is known as the wine capital of Argentina. Lying at an altitude of more than 3,280 feet, the Uco Valley is a unique region dedicated to making the very best fine wines. With soil consisting of pebbles, clay and sand, the Uco Valley is known to grow the highest quality Malbec grapes in the world.
THE FIVE SECRETS of the Andes ALTITUDE High altitude generates wide temperature swings, allowing grapes to slowly ripen with great concentration
CLIMATE Due to the proximity of the Andes Mountains, there is almost no humidity in the valleys, protecting grapes from many diseases
SUNLIGHT High sunlight hours ensure grape ripening each vintage, resulting in full flavor
WATER Our vineyards are irrigated with the purest snow melt from the Andes Mountains
SOIL Our soil is made up of gravel, sand and clay, which allows for great drainage to produce premium quality grapes.
WINEMAKING Clos de los Siete proudly upholds very high quality standards for winemaking. Only the best grapes are manually harvested from each of the four individual wineries that make up the C7 estate. Grapes are then manually sorted twice by hand. Each individual winery utilizes all gravity transport without pumping. Grapes go through cold pre-fermentation maceration and are then matured for 11 months in 70% French oak and 30% in vat, with no fining nor filtration. Blends are created at each winery independently before ultimately being blended together. Every year, Michel Rolland visits each winery, tasting the individual blends and chooses the best components that will then be used for the ultimate C7 blend.
A UNIQUE BLEND This Malbec-driven blend is a combination of black grapes sourced from the Clos de los Siete vineyards. Each grape brings unique flavor and characteristics to our ultimate blends. The varietal composition of our blend changes every year, making each vintage of C7 especially unique.
