efore she was famous, Ariana Grande was a just a normal girl, growing up in Boca Raton, Florida, with big dreams. Like you, she dealt with confidence issues, awkward grooming experiences, and, of course, harsh comments from girls at her school. Fast forward to 2015, and Ariana is more confident than ever! She feels super comfortable in her own skin and has finally figured out a beauty routine that makes her feel 110% every day. “In middle school, people gave me a hard time because I was really short and had big eyebrows,” Ari explains to Tiger Beat. “I used to wax my “Everyone is brows to make made differently them skinnier, but I didn’t like it. So and has their own I let them grow quirks, and that’s back and got over it. If my eyebrows what makes us are big, so be it. If all beautiful.” I’m small, oh well. I am what I am!” Once Ariana learned to embrace her ‘flaws,’ her journey to true inner happiness started to shine. Her best advice is to own your quirks, because they are what make you YOU! “Everyone is made differently and has their own quirks and that’s what makes us all beautiful,” she says with a smile. “It’s perfectly OK to be different. It’s exciting! Don’t let anyone get you down.” You may not believe it, but something that makes you unique, like a birthmark, mole, braces or glasses, is actually pretty awesome to others! Ariana, for example, was always a tad bit jealous of girls who

had braces! “I never had braces and I always thought girls with braces were so cool when I was younger,” she admits. “If you’re feeling insecure about them, just think about how gorgeous your teeth will be when they’re off.”

Girl with a glow
“When you’re happy, you always look ten times prettier!”
Another awkward issue girls deal with is experimenting with makeup. Maybe you’re not allowed to wear it, or maybe you just feel pressured to because everyone else is. Well, Ari has the perfect advice! “No one needs makeup to be happy and confident, so stop thinking that,” she says with a giggle. “It’s who you are that counts, and happy girls are the prettiest! If you want to play with products, start with facial moisturizer and tinted chapstick. Whether you wear makeup or not, the secret to glowing skin is drinking a lot of water. And don’t forget to wash all of your makeup off before you go to sleep, no matter how tired you are!” Lastly, Ariana wants you to know that you should
never compare yourself to others, especially on social media. People use apps that fix blemishes and can even change the size and shape of their features. Oh, and those #nofilter or #makeupfree captions? Not always true! “Everybody uses ridiculous captions for their selfies, like ‘Layin’ in bed on Saturday.’ It’s like, No! You just spent an hour getting ready! We all post a selfie for the same reason — because we feel better about ourselves than usual. So just say, ‘Hey, I feel good about myself today, so here’s a picture! I know this sounds super cheesy, but when you’re happy, you always look ten times prettier. So just have fun and be silly. Don’t waste a hot second of your life being critical of yourself because it’s not worth it. You’re beautiful!”
