A Net-Zero House
The house is Net-Zero due to an interesting combination of technologies. A 4kW photovoltaic array provides 3.2MWh of power each year. These solar panels provide energy to heat the ground source heat pump. Any spare energy is injected into a large underground thermal store. This has reduced the annual electric consumption of the heat pump to 3.2MWh—the same as the output of the PV array.
