Fundraiser Success
West Coast Seeds Fundraiser
We had a successful West Coast Seeds fundraiser in January 2025. We had 18 orders for a total sales of $1,358.88. Our association will receive 40% of that ($543.55) and then we will have some shipping costs. As soon as we receive the seed order, we will be in touch to distribute them. Thank you to everyone who supported us. We automatically get added to the West Coast Seeds fundraiser list for next year again since we had more than 10 orders!

Bonanza 2025
Bonanza 2025 will be held July 21st to July 25th in Olds, AB. Please note that these are new dates. If you haven’t booked your hotel yet, there are a few options listed on the Bonanza 2025 Facebook page. Pomeroy Inn & Suites in Olds, AB is the host hotel (403-556-8815).
It sounds like we will have a good representation from BC attending this summer. As a province, we have a few projects we can work on to prepare for Bonanza. There is a provincial scrapbook, a BC auction basket that we need to put together and we need to have a team for the Great Griller competition and Team Marketing. Please let someone on the BCJHA executive know if you are interested in helping with one of these.

Entires close March 31, 2025. You can enter a heifer and/or steer and you must enter & show at Prospect 2000, Cariboo Classic and IPE Junior Beef Show.

LOOKING FOR AUCTION ITEMS
We are planning to have an online BCJHA auction this May so we are starting to gather donations. It would be wonderful if each BCJHA family could find one or two items to have donated. Please send a photo and description of each item to one of our BCJHA executive. We would like to have the online auction prior to Cariboo Classic to help with distributing the auction items across the province.
We are also looking for a BCJHA member who would like to help with setting up the online auction. You can let Delaney or Evan know if you are interested.
2025 CJHA CALENDAR
You should have received your 2025 CJHA calendar now. It is a great resource for Hereford breeders, gestation dates and contacts for the CJHA and CHA.
If you know someone who would be interested in having a full-page or business card ad in the 2026 calendar, please let Delaney or Evan know. They will be calling breeders later this year about the heifer lottery and calendar project ads.

CJHA Report

In January Evan and I attended the CJHA AGM for 2025, it was a super fun time getting to bond with everyone and make exciting new plans for the upcoming year. Evan is one of 4 new delegates on the board this year which is super exciting! We did lots of discussing about Bonanza in Olds this year, and came up with lots of other new plans and ideas for 2025. This year one of our main goals is to be more interactive with both breeders and juniors through social media, you can find us @ Canadian Junior Hereford Association on all platforms make sure to be following our Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat for regular updates on projects and other fun interactive activities. We had a meeting Friday night and Saturday morning, we did lots of team bonding which included us getting the chance to go bowling, swimming and have a group dinner on Saturday night to finish of the short trip before everyone made their way home on Sunday. It was a great weekend and everyone enjoyed the group time spent together.
