SMT Group

SMT Group 1. Introduction SMT Group (Swedish Machinery and Trucks), Volvo importer based in Belgium, forms part of the SDA Group (Société de Distribution Africaine), a holding company specialising in distribution in Africa.

SMT Group is the official distributor of Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment & Volvo Penta in more than a dozen countries in Central and West Africa.

SMT Group was created in Belgium to meet the need for Volvo Construction machines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

SMT Group then opened in DRC, Ivory Coast and Nigeria and also extended its product range to also represent Volvo Trucks and Volvo Penta.

Since January 2012, the group grew rapidly with the acquisition of the Volvo network in Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso and Liberia (Volvo Trucks and Volvo Construction Equipment), but also with the opening of new points of sale in Cameroon and Gabon.

Today SMT Group has 18 points of sale in Africa: SMT Benin SMT Burkina Faso SMT Cameroon SMT Congo (Brazzaville & Pointe Noire) SMT Ivory Coast SMT Gabon SMT Ghana (Accra, Tarkwa & Kumasi) SMT Liberia SMT Nigeria (Abuja, Kano, Lagos & Port Harcourt) SMT Republic of Congo (Kinshasa & Lubumbashi) SMT Togo SMT Group was founded by Philippe de Moerloose, President and CEO of the SDA Group.

In July 2013, the SDA Administrative Council decided to increase the capital of SMT. SMT became SMT Group, a direct owner of all the SMT subsidiaries in the various African countries.

2.Volvo Construction Equipment: Volvo Construction Equipment is one of the largest manufacturer of civil engineering machinery in the world. Volvo Construction Equipment also offers a wide range of equipment with a technical reputation based on safety, respect for the environment, performance and efficiency of service. In total, Volvo Construction Equipment has more than 150 models of excavators, tyre loaders, graders and tippers.

This production is ensured by nine Volvo plants around the world.
