CELEBRATING OUR “WILD SIDE” FOR DODGE CITY DAYS 2018 The Dodge City Days planning committee is proud to announce the 2018 Dodge City Days theme “The Wild Side of the State”! The theme harkens back to Dodge City’s Wild West past and also celebrates the spirit and excitement that the Dodge City Days festival brings to the community. “Our inspiration for the theme and pin design came from playing around with the actual shape of the state of Kansas,” said Dodge City Days Coordinator Abby Lewis. “You will see the state shape represented in the Lapel Pin design and on the t-shirt. We love the visual design we are using this year and that it ties into our Western Heritage and wild past which is the whole point of the Dodge City Days festival”. Dodge City Days is the second largest festival in Kansas and will include new events as well as the old favorites. This year’s festival will run from Thursday, July 26th to Sunday, August 5th. For detailed information about the festival and for a full list of events, please visit the NEW Dodge City Days website www.dodgecitydays.org. There are many different ways to get involved with the Dodge City Days festival. If you are interested in being a part of Dodge City Days 2018 please contact the Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce (620) 227-3119 or dcdays@dodgechamber.com.

WESTERN PLAINS MEDICAL COMPLEX CEO EARNS PATIENT SAFETY CREDENTIAL Dodge City, March 5, 2018 - The Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (CBPPS) recently recognized Kerry Tirman, CEO of Western Plains Medical Complex as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). “Earning this credential attests to Kerry’s professional competency in patient safety science and application,” said Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS, President, CBPPS. “This achievement demonstrates his expertise in this critical discipline and positions him among those committed to and leading patient safety work.” For Western Plains, becoming CPPS certified proves the organization’s commitment to safer patient care. As the hospital leader, this certification allows Tirman to not only invest in his own development but most importantly allows him to assist in improving the overall patient safety skills, knowledge, and confidence throughout the hospital. “In order to continually deliver high quality care to the community, we should recognize the continuous opportunities in delivering safe and effective care. We should incorporate all that we have learned from safety science and human factors into our everyday work,” Tirman says. “The Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety responds to this critical need by formally validating skills and competencies, and encouraging healthcare professionals to become the standard bearers for patient safety excellence.” Tirman earned this credential in part by passing a rigorous, evidence-based examination that tests candidates on their competency in patient safety science and application. Tirman is currently employed as Chief Executive Officer at Western Plains Medical Complex. With the conferring of certification, Tirman is privileged to use the CPPS credential. For more information about the CPPS credential, contact the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety at (617) 391-9927 or write to info@cbpps.org.

RESTORE - DON’T REPLACE! ServiceMaster Rapid Response has expanded by adding a revolutionary soft-contents restoration technology! According to Raul De La Torre (owner), this system, known as the Esporta Wash System ™, will enable them to restore 85% of damaged contents that are typically deemed irreparable and thrown out. Raul stated: “We can now restore all manner of sentimental articles that would typically be tossed out, and we can provide much faster and simpler soft-contents claim settlements.” Items that can be restored include clothing, bedding and pillows, leather, sports equipment and memorabilia, and delicate items such as wedding dresses and quilts. This Esporta system is capable of restoring smoke, soot, water, mold, and sewage damaged goods to better than pre-loss condition. According to independent laboratory tests, items are actually restored to “food grade cleanliness”. The Esporta Wash System kills contaminants and ensures the highest level of hygiene with a patented process that kills 99.99% of the harmful bacteria that can be found in soft goods and equipment. “The benefits of the entire ServiceMaster system include guaranteed, quick turnaround for residential and commercial property loss claims, on-site inventory of restorable, salvageable and non-restorable items, safe and secure control of customer’s property, photo inventory and UPC bar code technology, and replacement pricing, among others,” said Raul. “Industry benefits include an average savings of more than 80 percent over replacing the same items.” ServiceMaster Rapid Response serves customers in Southwest Kansas and provides complete restoration and mitigation services with full-time, highly-trained employees on a 24/7/365 emergency schedule.
