Iran Tighten Access to Google
Iran plans to divert its citizens to domestic internet network as an effort to improve cyber security. The announcement was made by a representative of the local government ministry on Sunday. The content of the announcement also mentioned, the Google search engine and email service will be blocked in a few hours. “Google and Gmail will be screened across the country until further notice� said an official named Khoramabadi, without giving further details, as reported by Reuters on Monday (09/24/2012). But Irania Student news agency (ISNA) said, blocking Google related to anti-Islamic movie posted on YouTube, which has caused outrage across the Muslim world. But there was no official confirmation on this. Iran is one country that has strict internet filtering, and prevent users gaining access multiple sites with offensive or criminal reasons. Even so, many Iranians believe that the blocking of websites such as Facebook and YouTube because it is used as a form of anti-government. Sites that are considered to express anti-government were blocked. Meanwhile, according to Iranian media, the domestic system will be fully implemented in March 2013.
