Pirate Bay Founder Arrested in Cambodia

Gottfrid Svartholm one of the founders of Pirate Bay have been arrested in Cambodia. He was arrested for avoiding the civil penalties about copyright infringement in Sweden. Reporting from CNET, Monday (09/03/2012), Svartholm was arrested by Cambodian police at Phnom Phen. But until now the arrest of Svartholm has not confirmed officially by the parties concerned. Meanwhile Svarthol lawyer, Ola Salomonsson said, “I understand that my client is one of the people on the list of most wanted persons.” Salomonsson also said Svartholm will be returned to Sweden, although this country has no extradition treaty with Cambodia. Svartholm along with his colleagues at the Pirate Bay namely Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, and Carl Lundstrom guilty in 2009 for having to load 33 files illegally through file sharing site Piratebay.org. The Pirate Bay Founders were sentenced to one year in jail.
