Ring Can Be Password for Touch Screen

Touch and sweep are the dominant method on hundreds of smartphones and tablets. The same touch that uses a ring, will soon be a new way of showing the identity of the device owner. Quoted from Mashable, Saturday (09/01/2012), this new tool can remove a little Data that act as a password, through a special ring on your finger. Ring is sending data over a small electric wave out of the skin to be read by a mobile phone screen. Depending on the application being used, it can enable rapid movement to the settings in a device used together, allowing game to distinguish players, replacing the password or provide additional layer of protection over the password. Now the tool is still a prototype in Winlab of Rutgers University. This method could open new direction in terms of user interaction and authentication. “Imagine if every electronic gadget can know who you are and adapt accordingly to your personalized or even offer personalized information to you, by recognizing touch� said computational scientist at Duke University, Romit Roy Choudhury. Meanwhile, the project leader, Marco Gruester targeting this technology could be commercialized within the next two years.
