Rustic stic Heart is a rockin’ country band that hales from Springfield. Rustic Heart was formed by lead vocalists Makenna Lee & Brock Wade. They started performing together & decided the next step was to create a band that could help them showcase their original music. Makenna Lee & Brock had both performed with Tyler Weeks & invited Tyler into the band to play drums & do back up vocals. Tyler gives Rustic Heart the ability to have three part harmony that can’t be matched. Makenna searched her college’s music department & this is where she was lead to Cameron Stacy. Cameron plays lead guitar & helps define the style of music they play. Cameron told the band about his good friend & fellow musician Kolt Kendrick. Kolt also plays lead & rythm guitar & comes from a bluegrass background. The final piece of the band was filled in with Bryan Wade. Bryan lays down the bass beat that ties the group together.

Fair Grove History

Fair Grove was established as a town about 1846 when the orginal school, a one-room log structure, was built on the square. Chatham Duke was the first schoolmaster. Methodist and Presbyterian congregations used the facility on alternate Sundays. They established a cemetery nearby. The school campus moved to its present location, 2 blocks north of the square in 1891. At about this same time, Baptists built a church south of the square. Both buildings are still standing and used each Sunday. The Presbyterians built a structure due east of the square on Walnut that was destroyed by fire. Through the years the Assembly of God, Church of Christ, and Free will Baptists have founded facilities within the city limits. The main street through town was once known as the Ozark Trail, and later U.S. Highway 65, spanning the country from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada. It was paved and relocated west in 1929, to what is now called Orchard Blvd. During the 1970s, the highway was once more re-routed farther west to its present position with an overpass and ramps added later. John Ramey set up the first store in Fair Grove in 1856 on the present site of Carl Woodring’s Old Mill Flea Market. During the Civil War Confederate soldiers ransacked it. A variety of business have been located on the square including: the Post Office, bank, drugstore, blacksmith shop, livery barn, grocery stores, general merchandise, florists, beauty salons, barber shops, hotels, automotive garage, car dealership, feed store, cafes, funeral parlor, insurance offices, fraternal lodges, movie theater, doctor’s office, etc. Over the last 20 years, more modern businessess have been established along highway 125, allowing the square to become a historical district. Fair Grove’s Mill, last owned and operated by Clifford and Ethel Wommack, was established in 1883. Once the largest commercial operation in northern Greene County, it is perhaps the most important local structure to survive into the 21st Century.

The Old Mill has become the focal point for community gatherings and annual events such as the ice cream social the 3rd Saturday in July and the Fair Grove Heritage Reunion held the last full weekend in September. The Fair Grove Historical and Preservation Society purchased the mill and immediate property in 1984, beginning a restoration process that continues today. This initial action helped to establish historical appreciation and pride in the community’s past that continues to guide the town.
