CONTEMPORARY ANTI-FASCISM

ow do anti-fascists respond to all that we have discussed in this book: feelings and swarms, influencers and deadly violence, conspiracies and ecofascism? We have avoided prescriptions thus far. In fact, concrete prescriptions might be exactly what is not needed. As the far right continues to diversify, any single method of anti-fascism becomes inadequate. However, this fracturing amongst the far right also suggests a strategy of its own. Because the far right is not a singular entity but is filled with antagonisms and contradictions, anti-fascists should look to those antagonisms, apply pressure to them and break them apart. The 21st century will be defined by ecological calamity. This must not be compounded by the political calamity of ecofascism. For this reason, anti-fascism needs to scale up dramatically over the next few years and decades. It will require patient and honest self-reflection to get there.
