This is because dogs learn by immediate consequences and if you wait for too long, she won’t be able to associate the corrective measures that you employ with her misbehavior. While you can always penalize your dog, physical punishment is almost always not necessary. Instead of inducing pain to your dog by smacking her, it is better to startle her with a strong “No” or rattle a can that is full of rocks, which is enough to deter your puppy or dog from continuing with her current unwanted behavior or action. You can also conduct a remote response correction strategy, which is only producing a deterrent noise without the dog knowing that you are the one producing that sound so she doesn’t

associate the corrective measure with you. If she associates the corrective measure with you, then she will just wait until you’re out of sight and resort to her unwanted action. After successfully stopping your dog from her misconduct, sit her down and applaud her for her good action of sitting.

Biting:

You should start training your dog not to bite at a tender age, preferably when she is between 3 and 4 months old. Prior to this age, there’s no problem if she puts her mouth in your hand. However, this should be discouraged going forward. If she bites on your hand after this point, let out a small cry and walk away without giving her any attention. This will make your puppy learn that whenever she bites a person, she doesn’t get any attention.

Incessant barking:

Some dogs can bark so excessively that neighbors start to complain. Incessantly barking dogs should be kept inside till they learn to stop their excessive barking behavior. Barking comes naturally for dogs and so you have to make your dog know that while it’s ok for her to bark, she needs to quiet down if told to keep quiet. You can make your dog learn to stop barking by telling her, “Be quiet” as you wave a treat or reward in front of her nose, and because dogs are unable to lick or sniff anything and bark at the same time, she’ll stop barking as she salivates for the pending treat.Immediately praise her good behavior of stopping to bark and proceed to give her the gift you offered. Repeat the same procedure the next time she barks only that this time you increase the duration between her stopping to bark and you giving her the treat. The duration can be increased gradually from 5 seconds to 10 seconds to 20 seconds and so forth until she learns to break her barking tendencies by about a minute or even more. After some time, your dog will stop her barking tendencies on command without having to give her a treat. However, it is crucial that you keep praising her whenever she does the good action of keeping quiet.

In many cases, dogs are tentative or afraid of climbing up/down stairs. When assisting bigger dogs accomplish their movement up or down stairs, you have to leash the dog, maintaining a strong hold on the leash with minimal slack. To protect yourself, ensure that you also have a stronghold on the railing.Stand at the bottom of the stairs with your dog. It will serve you best if the stairway has excellent traction and is wide. Start walking up the stairs while looking straight ahead. If she is hesitant and does not initially move up with you, then you have to start all over again and give it another shot. It can take some time before your dog moves up the first stair, but patience is a quality that is required of all participants in dog training classes. For puppies and smaller dogs, a different method is preferred. First, place your puppy or dog on the first stair, and then walk a few paces away. Encourage her to jump off the stair. If she’s hesitant, you can persuade her to take the right action using a treat. Remember to praise and treat your dog whenever she does the correct action of jumping of the stairs. When moving up the flight of stairs is successful, consider placing her at the top of the stairway and use a similar method to encourage her climb down the stairs.
