After stocking these requirements, then start administering dog training classes to your dog so she can exhibit proper elimination manners.

First Step: Ensure that you feed him on schedule. When dogs eat on schedule, they eliminate on the schedule. Second Step uses your notebook to keep track as to when your puppy drinks, eats and eliminates. Also, take note of what your canine was doing prior to the elimination; dogs almost always ‘go potty’ after playtime, meals, and naps. Look for behaviors that might indicate that your dog wants to eliminate. Most dogs paw on the ground, sniff around, or show other pre-elimination behaviors. Start using these cues as pre-elimination indicators and take your pet outside for a toilet break. By reviewing the notes you have made in one or two weeks, you will be able to establish the elimination schedule for your dog. Third Step: management. This is where the crate comes in handy, especially when you’re unable to directly oversee your dog. A crate that is large enough for your dog to get in, turn around while inside and lie down will be more useful. You can buy a large box that will give your dog enough space to eliminate his waste on one side as well as relax comfortably on another side out of his puddle or bundle. Dogs have a natural desire to reside in an unspoiled environment and creating is designed to take advantage of this. Although crates come with very handy house training tools, you should avoid crating your pet longer than he’s able to comfortably hold his bladder or bowel movements. If your puppy is aged one month, he’s likely able to hold it for two hours, if he’s two months, three hours, if he’s three months, four hours, and so forth until he is six months old. However, this varies with each dog and toy breeds are more likely to have problems holding their bowel and bladder movements. If you’re going to work all day and your pet isn’t able to hold it for that long, ensure that you either organize for somebody to take your puppy out during the day or provide the dog with a ‘safe spot’ such as ‘potty pads’until he’s sufficiently mature to control his potty mannerisms for the time you’re working. Also, you can use tethers to manage your dog when you’re home. Your dog’s freedom at home is an honor that has to be earned by him reliably controlling his potty behaviors. Tethering or leashing your dog enables you to identify pre-elimination cues and thus give your dog well-timed toilet breaks. Fourth Step: reinforce all appropriate responses. Each time your canine friend eliminates outside, ensure you treat and praise him. Wait for him to finish and then strengthen. When using a clicker, click after he has finished and provide treats or play with his favored toy. It will only be a matter of time before he starts eliminating on cue. If you don’t use a clicker, ensure that you reward your dog for each correct behavior with a favorite game, treats or walk him around the neighborhood. Fifth Step: when you catch your dog in the act … interrupt without yelling – a firm ‘oops’ works just fine – and don’t use an angry tone. Immediately take him to the designated toilet spot and wait for him to finish outside before you can reward him. Sixth Step: If you get his puddle or bundle in the house, simply clean it up. Do not rub your pet’s nose in it or swat him or spank him with your hand or newspaper or drag him over it. Dogs respond to teachings by immediate consequences of their acts and so if you missed the act, then the training opportunity has

been missed as well. Use an enzymatic cleaner to clean up, especially one that is specific for Cleaning pet accident. These are pretty simple but effective steps for dog house training, and in as few as 6 days you’ll once again be enjoying your dog as a bundle of joy and not stressing over your dog’s unsightly puddles and bundles. This is a surefire way to have a well-trained canine friend and, what’s more, a sparkly clean house always.
