OUR PROGRAMME
Doha College places great importance on a wide ranging and accessible Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme. Within the College CCAs are seen as one of the pillars of a holistic education alongside strong academic and pastoral pillars.
We aim to prepare pupils for life in a modern society by equipping them to be responsible, respectful citizens who contribute to society; developing their understanding of both British values and appreciation of our diverse environment.
The CCA program aims to develop enthusiastic, collaborative, reflective, excellent communicators, creative thinkers, active global citizens, and independent enquirers. It also fosters problem solvers, and innovative and enterprising learners. The school also encourages students to participate in a wide variety of experiences to further enhance their soft skills through community and charity work.
By fostering a diverse and engaging co-curricular experience, Doha College helps students develop a well-rounded education and prepare them for success in their future endeavours.
CCAs are seen as the College community coming together for the benefit of all, where relationships between staff and pupils are enhanced and where our older students are encouraged to lead their own CCAs for the benefit of their peers and younger students.
Doha College uses a simple, convenient and fair registration system, Schools Buddy, to support and allocate CCAs appropriately.
CCAs run from 14.05 to 15.05 daily. The exact schedule for each term varies on the term dates, national and religious holidays.
This guide has been developed to give you a better understanding of how our CCAs work and to equip you to contribute to the vibrant life outside the classroom.
AIM
Excellence beyond the classroom.
OBJECTIVE
To provide ALL students with the opportunity of a holistic, inclusive, values and skills based education, beyond the classroom, that develops global citizens who are ready for work and life.
The CCAs are categorised into three areas: Sport, Skills, and Service.
Understanding the 3 S’s
Skills- This category encompasses a wide range of activities, showcasing the variety of skills and passions present in our student body. It includes everything from performing arts to academic clubs and societies, music, debate, and strategic games such as chess. These Skills activities serve as platforms for students to discover, articulate, and develop their unique talents.
Sports- This includes both individual and team sports as well as fitness activities. It is aimed at fostering physical health, teamwork, and a competitive spirit. It provides a platform for students to refine their athletic abilities and cultivate a lifestyle that values health and activity. Whether it’s on a sports field, a court, or inside a gym, these activities offer a multitude of opportunities for students to engage in physical exercise and sportsmanship.
Service- In line with our dedication to community involvement, the Service category emphasises actions tied to community service and philanthropy. By taking part in service-based activities, our students cultivate social accountability, empathy, and an understanding of the significance of contributing positively to the broader community.

PROCEDURES
The CCA director is responsible for managing the CCA and works closely with the Primary and Secondary leads along with the CCA administrator . This allows Doha College to run an efficient, sustainable, relevant, fun and high quality CCA provision. Staff are contracted to lead and support at least one CCA per term. Some specialist staff may be required to do more than one.
ORGANISATION OF CLUBS
CCAs activities run from 14.05 to 15.05. Each CCA runs for one term. Some may last all year. A new programme of clubs is offered in the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms of each school year. The exact schedule for each term varies on the term dates, national and religious holidays.
BOOKING
In the last few weeks of each term, the booking of clubs for the next term will be available through School’s Buddy. Parents will be able to sign up for 14 days. For secondary students, in order to foster responsibility and independence, we encourage students to select their own preferences. The registration will then close and allocations will be made. Cancellations can only be requested during the first week of the term. CCAs that have space will open to pupils and parents in the second week. No changes after this can be made.
COMMITTEES
If your child is a committee member for one of our committees- DEI, Digital, Well Being, Eco or Charities, it is expected that they will join the CCA for that committee on the day it runs. Please make sure that your children are aware of this before they sign up to be a committee member. This means that they will be pre registered onto the register for that CCA and unable to choose a different CCA on that day.
SUPERVISION, SAFETY AND COLLECTIONPRIMARY
The CCA leader will ensure all children leave school with an appropriate adult in Primary. Primary pupils must only be collected by an adult with the appropriate lanyard, except for EYFS and Year 1 children. If another parent is picking up your child, it is imperative that you send a message to the class teacher to inform them. Children will not be released to another adult unless the CCA leader has been informed.
Anyone who picks up your child from a CCA must be aware of the location. Videos have been made to help with finding these locations and are on the school website. Foundation Stage children must be collected by an adult.
• EYFS children must be collected by an adult.
• Year 1 children must be collected by an adult or a 6th Form sibling.
• Year 2-6 children can be collected by an older sibling in Secondary.
Children not collected on time will be taken to the front office. If children are routinely collected late from a CCA, parents will be contacted by the CCA director to discuss the situation.
If a child has been picked up late 3 or more times, they will be asked to leave the CCA.
If a child does not attend a CCA 3 or more times, they will be removed from the CCA.
SUPERVISION, SAFETY AND COLLECTIONSECONDARY
After 14.05 all secondary students should be exiting school grounds or going to a CCA. 6th form can remain on site until 15.05. If students need to be on site after 14.05, for example, to wait for their younger sibling in a CCA, students should be in the secondary library. Students need to sign in and sign out of the library area, via the handbook.
This area will be supervised by the Head of Secondary, the Deputy Head Pastoral and the Deputy Head Academic. At 14.05, a Secondary Leadership staff member or the Secondary Lead of CCAs (whoever is on duty), are responsible for ensuring that students are in the library, if they are on site and not at a CCA.
Safeguarding of students is the responsibility of all staff on site, therefore staff who walk past students who are not in the library, or in a CCA, should actively challenge secondary students and ensure they are going to the correct area.
Our school nurses are on site till 15.05 and a First-Aider will always be on school premises for the duration of CCAs.
DRESS CODE
Students in Primary who have a Sporting CCA can come to school dressed in their PE uniform.
Students in Secondary who have a Sporting CCA will be required to change after school.
SCHOOLS BUDDY
SchoolsBuddy is our comprehensive schoolto-home management system that provides an integrated portal for our CCAs. The SchoolsBuddy application is also available to download. This is very user friendly and will help you to familiarise yourself with your children’s CCAs and their pick up locations.
Once the application has been downloaded, please remember to turn on your ‘push notifications’ in your phone settings.
Please find a link to all you need to know about Schools Buddy.

In the event of a fire alarm activation, an evacuation message will be broadcast through the tannoy system. Parents are required to assemble promptly at the designated muster point, which is located at the 3G pitch. At the muster point, a headcount will be conducted to ensure everyone’s safety. Parents should remain at the 3G pitch until it has been declared safe to leave by the designated authorities. Meanwhile, our security team will conduct thorough sweeps of all buildings to ensure that everyone has been safely evacuated.
TEACHERS, STUDENTS THINK
I am pleased and proud to have been working alongside our students to produce the student magazine - ‘Majlis’ - for over 10 years! The magazine has gone through many changes – from a newspaper to a print magazine to an online magazine and, now, to a website – but the one constant has always been that the students who have orchestrated these changes have been dedicated to producing a high quality magazine ‘for the students, by the students’. It’s a real joy to see their writing, editing and design skills develop through the CCA. () secondary teacher Claire Fairley (secondary teacher)Majlis
My favourite CCA was Spanish, it was lots of fun and I made new friends. The teacher was always kind, smiling and always smiling. I learned lots of new words in Spanish

I’m delighted to witness the transformative impact our Year 2 fashion club has on students. It’s truly inspiring to see their faces light up with excitement as they explore the world of design. Through sketching, designing, and experimenting with colour, we work together to and bring their visions to life. Our young designers develop invaluable skills while expressing their unique creativity!
