New Delia’s Hall at Good Hope Secondary School

This is a tendering proposal for Design and Construction of Redevelopment of Delia’s Hall in Good Hope School (Secondary Section). Delia’s Hall has stood uphill since 1980s. Over the past few decades, she is not merely a beautiful structure but is conceived of Good Hope spirit as well as the collective memory among all students and staffs. As an additional auditorium is required in this design brief, we proposed to keep this elegant building and have the new auditorium sitting above it.

Fr. Bogadek Corner Biology Laboratory, St. Louis School, Hong Kong

Fr. Bogadek is renowned for discovering a rare burrowing lizard on Hei Ling Chau island in the mid of 1980s. And the lizard is now known as Dibamus bogadeki. Fr. Bogadek was Biology teacher in St. Louis School from 1968 to 1994. After his retirement, he supervises the running of biology laboratory until present. This corner is particularly designed for honoring Fr. Bogadek for his contribution and achievement by displaying his collection of specimen.

24

Client: St. Louis Old Boys’ Association Chief Design Architect: Choy Siu Kwan Area: 15 m2

25

26

This corner is designed to serve both display and storage of the specimens. The desk was preserved as working space for Fr. Bogadek. Classic ambience is achieved by the selection of chestnut wood and sophiscated design of lighting.

27

K House

Serenity Park, Tai Po, Hong Kong

This flat of 355 ft2 is designed for a newly wed couple who are at their early 30. They are eager for an open space allowing individual actvities. After work, they used to taking a nap on the couch and watching movie. Both of them have least demand on materials but high demand on space.

28

To enhance the sense of space, the circulation for daily activities was extended through layout design. By combining the bedroom with the living room, sunlight can be introduced to every corner of the flat. Instead of defining the space by wall, the flat is divided into three main areas by level differences: Living area (the lowest), working and dinning area (the 1st platform) and the bedroom (the 2nd platform). 29

30

The bedroom is seperated from the dinning area by a wardrobe and a sliding door is set back to increase its privacy. For the sake of keeping the flat tidy effortlessly, habits of the couple are carefully considered with some detail design such as hanging hooks on the wall for jackets and raise up space at the bottom of the full height cabinet for shoes.

31

R House

Harbour Place, Hung Hom, Hong Kong

The flat is owned by a family of young couple and a baby boy. They would like to change the study to a bedroom for their kid. Hence, this project is intended to merge the functions of study, living and dining into one open space. Within 200 sq.ft , the working desk and storage space are merged in full height cabinet along the wall, so more space is spared for family activities.

32

To lighten the bulkiness of the full height cabinet wall, we keep the selection of material as few as possible. The cement rendered wall cool down the overall warm tone of wooden cabinet and wooden floor. With some highlights of black and brass, the elegant simpleness is enriched.

?

33

34

Different attempts were tried at the design stage. It is challenging to accommodate several functions and serve high demand of storage space. Through the arrangement of the furnitures, the space is vaguely divided into front door, living area, dining area, working area and circulation.

New Art Playground Art Museum at Suncheon Southern Gate, Korea

Suncheon has been renowned as an “eco-city”. Actually it was an old city having a variety of historical and cultural trails within the Suncheon Wall. However, the old city has been neglected due to the rapid industrialization. This Museum Design Competition aims to make an effort to regenerate Suncheon articulating a new vision for it as a ‘Humanities City’. We believe each city has its own metabolism and each society nurtures its unique culture, we should respect to the nature of a city in the process of city development. Besides, art exists in our daily lives so as you could find it in the neighbourhood. Hence, we would like to merge the art playground into the community to connect the visitors and the citizens.
