“Everything that used to have a value will mean nothing, all will fall apart. The ruins of architecture will merge with the ground, creating a new layer of geosphere, fossilised like the bones of a dinosaur. And a new, immaculate architecture will rise from the ruins, with great energy and courage, it will fight for its place under the sun. Because the thought of architecture is eternal.
PAVILION FOR VILLA n.31 - KYTLICA STUDIO ZAT SODOMKOVÁ + BALEJOVÁ, 2015 //consultations with prof. Pierre von Meiss Functionalist colony BABA in Prague was built in early 30s as a manifestation of modern functionalist architecture in the Czech Republic. More than 80 years later, we tried to do an honour to this exceptional complex in form of little pavilions representing the best of the original villas, using contemporary forms and possibilities. My pavilion re-interprets the house n. 31 designed by a famous architect Josef Gočár. PURITY and SIMPLICITY are presented in an unusual version of raumplan, questioning the relationship between interior and exterior, defining space through visual connections and a walkthrough. Entering through underground, the visitor sets out on a way to the top, going through different rooms containing artefacts /symbols from the original villa.

The building is more a sculpture, than a shelter. Formed as monolitic structure from one material, neither with doors, nor windows or roof. Can aesthetical function be considered as fulfilling enough to the principle of FUNCTIONALISM?

In group of four, we made up a setting of five pavilions each with a different function and placed them as a gate to Baba’s urbanism. The individual houses are arranged wildly to ensure the best views as well as smooth way through the whole EXHIBITION. However the newly planted rectangular orchards supplement the checkered layout of the orginal villas.
ANIMATION STUDIO STUDIO PETR HÁJEK, 2015 Lifeless becomes alive, things change, stationary is being brought into motion. Czech animated film carries legacy of world-wide known artists like Jiří Trnka, Hermína Týrlová, Karel Zeman, Zdeněk Miller or Jan Švankmajer. Valuable works of art can’t keep up with technically flawless 3D animation of large global studios. Nevertheless, the animator scene is definitelly not death in our country. The project aims to provide creators of traditional animation environment for animating and meetings, confrontation of opinions, maintaining a creative atmosphere and simultaneously a place for presentation of animated film, discussions, screenings, workshops and exhibitions. Therefore, the building is divided into a CREATIVE SPACE with freely adjustable layouts using portable wall panels, which enable production of differently demanding films, and a multifunctional hall open to the public..

SQUARE KRÁSNO / návestí workshop, 2015 + Lenka Levíčková + Luboš Klabík A small town in western Bohemia, in the middle of a beautiful forest called Slavkovský les. In a group of three, we proposed a concept of revitalization using small, quick and easy steps to improve the overall image of the locality. We called the concept “NÁVESTÍ”, because of the square’s village-like atmosphere. The goal was to inspire and motivate the municipality to take different stance on maintaining the public space in the city.
Filled in the surrounding gap sites, moved the car parks to courtyards, brought stream /water element closer to people, rationalized the distribution of vegetation... We tried to clean the space of the square to give it back its representative function and to create zones with different use.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING MORÁŇ STUDIO NOVOTNÝ, KOŇATA, ZMEK; 2016

While social housing is being often discussed not just i political circles, Prague is slowly setting out on a way to a housing crisis, real estate prices increase rapidly and living in the capital isn’t affordable for many people anymore. The building is situated on a triangular, very exclusive municipal estate, directly in the city centre next to a monastery. I decided to fill the estate with an unexpected, rather controversial topic responding to the current situation in our country - MUNICIPAL TENEMENT I created a new variation of a traditional balcony house. The exterior access corridor is covered with expanded metal, serving as protection from busy a street on the north side, stressing the house‘s horizontality. It behaves almost as a part of an urban block, floating over a platform with a garden. Under the platform, there is a big car park. There is a commercial space along the street, with facilities (such as cellars, bicycle and laundry rooms) under it. Minimally-sized flats are all oriented to the east / south and towards the greenery. Thanks to the use of prefabrication and the house‘s simple form with only four types of units, the building process becomes faster and inexpensive. Economic rooms / studios are compensated with common spaces suited for socializing, such as balcony corridors and public roofs with community gardens. There are 51 flats and 65 parking spaces.

Collage depicting the piazzetta
This project was mainly about the question of how contemporary art should be exhibited. The building is meant to never get old, to be timeless, to sustain the contemporary look for as long as possible. We noticed a parallel between the new building and the old monastery, where the Moravian gallery exhibits today and. Located on the edge of the old city centre, both serve to the society, concentrate energy. The building is wrapped in a grid, connecting all theentire volume under one sheet, much like the old monasteries were under one facade. In the middle, there is a “paradise garden” with a big old tree, encircled by a cloister. The old and new galleries face each other over a rectangular piazzetta, which serves as an alternative to crowded squares in the city centre. From the piazzetta, there is entry to the hall for interior art openings, performances, banquets, vernissages, etc. It is meant to be something like an interior park, a place to enrich the quarters cultural identity. All the exhibitions are accessible through the cloister.

ČÍTÁRNA / university cafeteria COMPETITION PROJECT, 2016 //HONORABLE MENTION
OASIS The space is diverted alongthe central green wall in two parts, one leisure space and the other more official one for both refreshment and work. The cafeteria is unforcibly integrated into the building structure, separated from the inner communication with a polycarbonate wall. The ceiling form the same material reveals all structures and pipings above - being a little reminder that you are in the building of faculty of civil engineering.

Down there, in the shade of “Magistrála”, grows up Manifesto, a seed of a new city movement and energy. People come both to create and draw inspiration, to refresh body and mind, to meet, to see a film or a lecture, to play, to listen to a concert. To drink. White containers serve as a canvas. They form two zones with different use, that are going to be filled spontaneously with furniture that people bring, find, or create in a workshop. We believe that taking part in a project can really convince people to start caring more about their surroundings and the environment. That the most powerful spaces have many layers and emerge over a long time.
