Should your child go to Preschool?

Should your child go to Preschool? You may feel pressure to have your child go to preschool even before he or she can talk. There is a culture of schooling that is spreading all around the United States but is it actually worth it? Not only are most preschools expensive but there are many things that you can do with your child that can actually reinforce their education much better than a teacher ever could. Here are some ideas for parents who want to help get their kids ready for school or better yet, life.

Teach them another language in the home Why not make everyday language an education for your child? By speaking another language in the home that is exactly what you are doing. Most children pick things up really fast and it is actually known to be much easier to learn a language as a child rather than later in life. That being said, make sure that you and your spouse are invested in the idea. This is something that takes teamwork and you may need to brush up on the language yourself.

Teach your child an instrument Rather than wasting money on a glorified “daycare”, give your child something that they will cherish for the rest of their life, a musical talent. This may take time out of your schedule or you can allocate the money that you would have spent on the preschool and send it over to the music teacher.

Let your kids have an outdoor experience Even if they are toddlers, if you take them out on the farm or up the mountains with you, you can be sure that they will learn and feel much more. This could be great bonding time for you and them as well. Make sure that you are willing to take the time to be with them and don’t leave them trekking alone.

Teach them simple things Whether it is to cook or just make their bed. There are hundreds of things at home that they can learn. Whether they are a boy or girl they all need to learn how to take care of a home. Too many boys don’t know how to cook and they end up starving when they get to college or even when they come home and they find that mom and dad are gone. This is one way to help make your child more self-reliant.

Do homeschool with other families You may have experts in your neighborhood. Why not send your kids over there to learn some crafts or skills even when they are supper little. There is no time like the present to get your child out there and into the world. When summer comes you may just want to send them to the Stony Brook Summer Camp where they can learn a lot but not be committed for the whole year. It’s all up to you how your kids get an education when they are that little. Make sure that you are making the best decision.
