Staying focused during finals week

Staying Focused During Finals While you are attending college in National City, it can be difficult to make it through finals week without being distracted. Get to know yourself and understand what works well for you throughout finals week to ensure you are able to ace your finals. Whether you are looking out at your National City College Campus and wishing you were laying on the grass or playing Frisbee on the lawn, or you just want to make it through finals week so you can have the stress of finals over, distractions can be difficult to deal with. These tips may help you battle your distractions and win. No matter what National City College Campus you are studying on, you should be sure that you have a study space that is as free from distraction as possible. Make sure that you take the time to find a quiet and undisturbed desk that is comfortable.

Don’t Stay Home Studying at home can be extremely convenient, but it may take away from your ability to focus. There are a lot of people that try to study at home but get sucked into the variety of distractions that are readily available for them if they are in their own home. Whether you are tempted to turn on the TV, make yourself another snack, or simply lay down and take a nap, studying at home is not where you should be studying if you are easily distracted. Take your books to a library and find a comfortable desk that will force you to focus.

Need a Break? Once you have found a study area that is suitable for your needs, you will then want to take the time to get up and give yourself a break throughout your study time. Sitting for a long number of hours at a time is not only bad for your body but can also be exhausting for your brain. Every forty five minutes force yourself to get up and take a quick walk around the building. Get some fresh air or do a couple of jumping jacks to make sure that you are able to get your blood flowing before you sit down again. Although this may make your studying feel disjointed at first, it is much better to be able to focus throughout the time that you are studying and know that you have a break scheduled. Once you get used to your study pattern, it will feel natural.

Munchies Finally, pack yourself some food that you can eat while you are studying. Taking a break to go to a restaurant or to go all the way home may take too much time away from your studying but it is also important that you have nourishment when you have a long day of studying ahead. Your finals may be daunting, but preparing yourself and taking time to perfect your studying habits is well worth your time. Study hard now, do well on your finals, and then you will be able to fully relax and enjoy your time off. Photo Credit: Kayepants, Francois de Halleux
